Mine Rescue

Im so glad to hear that they are gonna get these guys out before the actual time line they had proposed. What an amazing feat!

After several flawless test runs, rescuers are hours away from descending a 13-foot-tall capsule deep into the earth to bring 33 trapped miners back to the surface after two agonizing months.

Chile's mining minister says officials "hope to have at least one of our miners on the surface" before midnight. He announced the rescue plan at a news conference near the mine site.

That is awesome, the last I heard it was supposed to be around 3am tomorrow. I know they have been down there a long time, but I am still SURE that any minutes or hours that can be eliminated will thrill them. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind bringing the healthiest up first though, can someone walk me through that?

I think they may have to send some people down to get the less healthy out. So the more room the better. This is just my opinion.

Maybe not. They are lowering a capsule that the men individually get inside of. The more healthy will put the least healthy in first

This is an amazing story. I'm sure it'll become a book, and it should be very interesting.

The guy who has two women waiting on him might be thinking twice about coming up, though. ;) (a wife and a girlfriend)

I have read several articles that say that the most healthy or "fit" will be the first out?

That doesn't make sense unless they plan on leaving them behind.

Re: Mine Rescue

Chile has taken extensive precautions to ensure the miners' health and privacy, sending down Navy special forces paramedics to prepare them for the trip and using a screen to block the top of the shaft from more than 1,000 journalists at the scene.

Praxeas 10-12-2010 06:24 PM

Re: Mine Rescue

Officials have drawn up a secret list of which miners should come out first, but the order could change after paramedics and a mining expert first descend in the capsule to evaluate the men. First out will be the four miners best able to handle any difficulties and tell their comrades what to expect. Then, the 10 who are weakest or suffer from hypertension, diabetes, dental and respiratory infections and skin lesions from the mine's oppressive humidity.

This quote by one of, if not the youngest miner, in the Chilean mine situation, is so PRO-
FOUND! It reminds me of the song about the Three Hebrew Children and the FOURTH MAN
in the fire! This young man is basically acknowledging GOD was with them!

I have been so touched by the mercy of our God in the rescue of these miners. They
don't speak my language, for the most part. Their skin is not the color of my skin, They
don't live in the country I live and was born. BUt I have felt such compassion for these
men and their families. I have wept and rejoiced as they came out one by one. I have
thanked God for His Mercy to these precious souls for whom Christ died! GOD IS NO
RESPECTOR of persons. Thank God for the wisdom and knowledge that HE has given
those who have aided in these rescues. Before the first rescue I prayed, "LORD, let
everyone of those men be rescued, in Jesus Name".

Wondering why, LORD, do I feel such compassion for these men and their families! I
believe HE let me know that it was HIS LOVE shed abroad in my heart by the HOLY GHOST!

The capsule required that they get their waste size down to 35 inches so they could get in the capsule.

Fasting and dieting are two entirely different things. Unless you try to convince yourself that you are fasting when you are dieting?

"Later, doctors transitioned the men to a solid diet including meat and rice, with a strict 2,200 calorie diet to keep them slim enough to fit in the evacuation shaft just two feet (66 cm) in diameter."

American technology rises again, a company called DTH from Pennsylvania knew they had the technology to speed up the drilling process since they had used it at Quecreek ,it is a high speed percussion drill that cut it from christmas till now.

Praise God. The paramedics they sent down are not yet up?

I find this story interesting. I don't like anything about the accident except that they had survival supplies and survived.

No - there's 5 or 6 rescuers still down there.

Expected to be up within the next couple hours.

The amazing thing was they had supplies for about 48 hours but made them last for 17 days by listening to the foreman. What a leader , he came last. I was also struck by how long he talked to the president and how long the president talked to him and him being there to hug everyone as they came out with his wife ! Amazing. They also excepted any help worldwide, are you listening other countries , including Obama, who refused help with the oil spill ? And dont tell me about union rules, he is the president, issue an order. Then move on.The civic pride was great, the singing etc.no one worried about ACLU when they prayed.

Chile is dependent on mining and minerals. America has turned mining into a political mess.

Our government has turned to hate Halliburton. Halliburton is a technology leader and Layne Christensen the driller uses technology to know exactly where the drill bit is.

Praise the Lord for their miraculous rescue. I watched the first 3 last night as they emerged. It was very emotional.
What a story. And as has been mentioned, they recognized that they were not alone.
