How did you celebrate halloween?
 

I passed out candy with my cousin. We pulled up some chairs and sat in the driveway with a huge tub of candy. We could hear announcements on a speaker advertising hotdogs. So we decided to go across the street to Pentecostals of West Houston... but we got there after they shut down the 'trunk or treat'. Still had hot dogs... sat and ate.. then went back to my cousins place. Just got home on the east side.... stupid drive... sleep status... ugh.

I just returned home from watching and taking my 2 year old grandson around great-grandma's neighborhood dressed as "Tigger".
Oh my word! That cute little tail and those little tigger ears...I'll never be the same! Oh happy day, he was sooooooo cute!

I live off the beaten path down a long dark gravel road...in 8 years not one child has ever ventured near. Don't blame them a bit!

I watched football, the wife watched chick flicks. Gave out candy to the next door neighbor's kids, they were dressed up as Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, lol. Will be eating the rest of the candy throughout the week.

I did watch many horror movies throughout October as a run up to Halloween, though. I love horror movies, and watching them at this time of the year makes them so much better to me.

Hypocrite... :ursofunny ...kidding. I don't "celebrate" death. Took a look at my cousins neighborhood on the sex offender website. Figure, if we passed out candy maybe there' a chance the kids wouldn't make it to the homes of the three or four sex offenders in the neighborhood. :-/

Our church does not have Sunday night service.
Tonight they did "trunk or treat."
The street in front of church was blocked off and people parked there and gave out candy which we have been collecting at church for the past few weeks. I don't know how well this went because we did not go. We stayed at home and gave out hundreds of candy bars to the children who came to "trick or treat."

Our children are grown and have children of their own. When our children were younger we went out trick or treating in our neighborhood with them in a supervisory capacity. As they got older they would go out by themselves. All candy was brought home, dumped into one pile, checked and sorted through. Anything unwrapped or home made or that looked suspicious was thrown away. Our kids "shared the wealth." Everything was shared with one another and for several days they would take some candy in their lunches to school.

Of course Mom and Dad got their share also.

Our grandkids go trick or treating with their parents (our kids).

We know about the pagan origins of Halloween, Easter, and Christmas but they were always fun times at our house and our kids learned about Jesus.

Worked my 8 hr shift.
For the first time in many years, did not hand out candy.
Lights off.

I love Reeses and Snickers.........but if I can't eat them (milk is an ingred).....NO one gets to eat them :razz.


My wonderful hubby took me out to a Japanese restaurant for supper.

Handed out candy to a few dozen trick or treaters than just finished watching about three hours of the "Ghosthunters Live" Halloween special.

We don't celebrate Halloween. No trick or treaters at my house - I guess we have a reputation in the neighborhood. Ha!

We did have a huge Fall Fest at church last night for the kids, which we advertise as an alternative to Halloween. It had lots of candy, party-jumpers, a rock wall, and all kinds of stuff. No costumes, but just lots of good clean fun.

I took my son trick or treating. Also took along a lady friend with her daughter. My son dressed up as Spiderman, her daughter a princess. It was a nice time. The kids, both four years old, became afraid at some places. Taught them to face their fear and just whisper the name of Jesus if it became too scarying. Also taught them to look at scary things and say, "You're not real!" lol

Lady friend went wearing a black cat costume, mask, ornate wrist bands, and tail. I wore a ghoul costume pictured below (the glowing eyes faded in and out lol):

In my opinion Halloween is a time to reflect on the origin and nature of evil. To teach our families about such realities. The "celebration" of Halloween is primarily cultural in my opinion. I'm Irish... I value some of our traditions for cultural reasons. This was the first time I actually dressed up in over ten years. Had a blast walking down the street saying, "We're coming for our souls!" People would make a double take. I did what I could to make people think about eternity if not for a few minutes. lol

I try not to buy it--too much temptation! (and too many pounds) If I get any, I at least wait til the day AFTER Halloween. But this morning's downfall was that others in the office brought their leftover candy in... they didn't want to leave it at the house where they would eat it, so they made sure to bring it to a place where they knew it would quickly disappear!

Well, it isn't exactly dancing naked in the woods (something I always wanted to do), we DID watch Bubba Ho Tep the night before on Netflix.
