Amazon sells book on Pedophilia

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ped...ry?id=12111987

"The electronic book, "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct," by Philip R. Greaves II, apparently went on sale on Oct. 28 and costs $4.79 to download.

"This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught," the author says in the product description."

How about appealing to a surgical procedure........

Is it possible the Amazon is unaware of this? The person that let that thru should be fired.

They are completely aware, and have basically stated that they don't want to practice censorship.

"Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ABCNews.com. But according to the website Business Insider, Amazon issued a statement defending the book's place in the online store.

"Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions," the company said."

Wasn't there a story in the news maybe up to a year ago where a pedo handbook was found in public?? Or maybe I was watching Dateline or 20/20.

Well, until I hear otherwise I've done my last shopping with Amazon.

Re: Amazon sells book on Pedophilia

Apparently, a similar incident occurred in 2002:

"In 2002, Amazon.com cited the First Amendment as justification for offering another book that advocates adult-child sex, "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers," by David L. Riegel. Further, the paperback book is still available on the site.
At that time, Amazon stated, "Our goal is to support freedom of expression and to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any title they might be seeking."
An Amazon employee emphasized that "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers" was "not a 'how-to' manual for molesting children. The author simply expresses his point of view about what he feels are misunderstood."

Re: Amazon sells book on Pedophilia

The 2002 book "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers" has a "look inside" feature on Amazon. If you're brave, click on "First Pages" and read what the book is advocating.

It's essentially in support of pedophilia; it is NOT just a book about *understanding.* :vomit

I'd look but don't see the "look inside" feature.

It's only on the 2002 book (Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers); the Kindle book doesn't have the look inside feature.

Re: Amazon sells book on Pedophilia

How can they think there is anything to understand? The founding fathers would be mortified to learn that the first amendment would allow such depravity.

Guess I'll never be shopping with Amazon again.

Boy, as a mother and grandmother this stuff really irks me no end. :foottap

Apparently they don't want to do ANY censorship. That's one position.

I'd have to think that anyone purchasing those books is getting their ISP checked within 5 seconds. Poor Psych student doing a report on child-adult sex!

What the heck is wrong with our world???

I suppose libraries will be carrying this book so they won't be accused of "censorship".

Sick.

Um, I'm positive pedophilia is a criminal act, so how are they not supporting or promoting criminal acts???

Amazon is an international company.

What do the Libertarians out there think about this?

Should the market determine the actions here? Of course, telling Amazon you refuse to shop with them until they remove the book is another "free market exercise."

It's just all disgusting. Makes me wonder when any of these acts will become acceptable?
I never thought I'd live to see the day when any business would even consider selling a book on pedophilia, except to maybe how best to surgically remove the temptation.....without pain meds...just sayin....

Right. I don't see how this is legal. Free speach my *cough*. It puts the safety of children in jeopardy.

The author for this one would be Dexter Morgan.

The thought crossed my mind. What better way to establish "Probable Cause" for a search of someone's home and seizure of their electronic equipment? Also, all of the records of who bought this "book" are right there at Amazon and easily accessible either with Amazon's cooperation or without.

Of course, look for this one to join a lot of other stuff and be available on UseNet and P2P networks.
