I can't believe I gave in to the pressure....

For the first time in 20 years, the house is decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving.

The kids decorated the house yesterday, and they are putting the Christmas lights outside this week so they can be turned on Dec 1.

The big tree is in the living room, the girls have a tree in their room, and Michael wants one put up in his room too, so I am going back to the thrift store this week and getting another $10 Christmas tree.

Anyone else have their house decorated already?

No...I've always steadfastly held out till the traditional "day-after-Thanksgiving", but I feel myself growing weaker every year. LOL!!! I'm already dying to put decorations up; I just don't want to give in, when I've complained about other people doing it so much. :toofunny

Don't celebrate it and you won't have to worry bout it. ;)

We plan on putting all of our stuff up (and we have a ton of it this year) the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. We bought at least a half dozen additional LED lights for the front of the house as well as a couple of giant blow up ornaments. Oh yes, and a couple of LED rope lights to make a "river" down our front yard.

All we have done is put the tablecloth on the table. We had our Thanksgiving brunch yesterday. Christmas will be celebrated on the 18th of Dec.

I got a new china cabinet today. I just have to figure out what to put in it. Our living room is still not remodeled so don't know where to put our tree.

I am sticking with the weekend after Thanksgiving. My husband groans every time I drag the boxes out! We do not put up a tree- not a conviction, just a concession to my husband and we do not have small children in our family anymore. But I do decorate the den with the sparkles of the season.

The older I get, the less interested in decorating I feel. I could be VERY happy just using our small ceramic Christmas tree.

I am unsure if I will decorate for Christmas this year, or if I do, how far I will go.

If I do it, I will keep a Christ centered theme. If I stay true to form though, I probably will forego the decorating all together.

We stopped 5 years ago after coming into more understanding in the Word.....and we really don't miss it at all......I thought I would, but as each year pass's we can hardly wait until the whole season is over.....for those that celebrate, enjoy!

Oh, thanks for reminding me, Jermyn. Now I know just where to put my nativity scene.

If I were to do it, it would be on the front lawn, complete with a gaggle of wise men, donkeys and hay strewn about.

I may try to find some authentic donkey dung to help make the display all the more accuarate.

Oh and my Mary and Joseph will have a tan similar to one of a Mexican-- in an attempt to create the right affect.

:)

Oh, believe me, you don't want donkey dung in your front yard. Not even your pasture. :lol

I'm currently 16 years late on my decorating schedule. I don't foresee any improvement.

I am starting to gather the lights this year but NEXT year will be, as Michael Jackson said, "IT".

Sounds a bit like my reality:toofunny

Usually at least start the weekend after Thanksgiving. I go all out for the outdoors; my indoor inspiration has been fading each year :grampa

I LOVE Christmas and all the decorations and the family time and the thankfulness....I could go on and on and on and on...LOL!

Not sure when I will get to decorate though...we have funeral this week, as well as church, oh, visitation for the funeral, wedding rehearsal Friday night and a wedding on Saturday and then rehearsal next Tuesday evening and a wedding on Wednesday and then we are headed out of town for Thanksgiving and will be back late Saturday night, just in time for church on Sunday...

Not yet. Decorating is kind of a pain in the neck. I like it when it's done, but sheesh! It's a lot of work!

I have decided to do very minimal decorating this year. We have some little ones that will be around often. So to keep breakage to as little as possible, will be just the basics. A tree in the living room, village and nativity scene in the dining room. But might just get small white lights strung inside.

On another thread we were talking about "deliverance ministries." You might want to check that out. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ons/icon10.gif

But seriously, if the kids are having fun I'd just roll with it too. Happiness is often hard to come by. If the kids are "working" hard and having a ball, then you should scoop up all of the happiness that falls from those trees and lights.

Next week I'm doing a "road trip" to pick up my son from the Air Force base where he's been doing his advanced training. I'll really lay on the horn and honk loudly so all the Texas folks can hear me.
