You can't tame a wild animal

A man at Waskom, Texas had a pet deer that he had raised, I guess since it was born. He had it for a few years, and last Saturday it killed him. The game warden said he had told the man to get rid of it but he didn't listen. Now there is a family without a father.

Is this the beginning of a running gag?

No, this is not a gag. I'm not sure if it was a buck but it probably was.

No, true story. He kept it in a kennel. Went in to feed it, and it killed him.

So Bambi killed it's owner.

Well, it is deer season. Maybe he was nervous.

Seriously, I know that bucks can be very dangerous during this time of year.

Yes, they can. And this was an elderly man. Still very horrifying.

It has happened a few times near my old hometown. There are a few deer sanctuaries and while the deer are very friendly, including the males most of the time, once the rut starts look out. It is not so much that they become mean, but very unpredictable -and mean!

It probably didn't like being caged.

We do have an over population problem here. There is one community here that is so overrun the state has had to step in and kill a certain amount.

That is Wisconsin every single year.

I am NOT against hunting but the problem with it is that unlike natural selection which claims the young, old, weak, and dying, hunters tend to go for the biggest and strongest. The deer that they are bagging today look nothing like what they were getting even 30 years ago. The weak and deformed are now left to continue the species every year.
