It's a girl...well, probably :)

I had an appointment with a specialist this morning (I'm considered high risk because of my age, 36). Everything looked normal and their were no markers for down's syndrome.

I was really surprised that they were willing to venture a gender, as I am only 14 weeks along. The tech was about 75% confident, but the Dr. was even more so!

I can safely start shopping for girlie things!

Besides, I am pragmatic...I have another ultrasound in 6 weeks, so if they change their minds by then I can take all the girl stuff back, LOL

We already had decided on both a boy and a girl name, but I am always open to suggestions ;)

(My mother is always insisting that you need a backup, because when my older sister was born, she didn't "look" like the name they had picked out)

Whooohoo! Little girlies are fun! (and you don't have to worry about the circumcising thing)

Yep, I think names need to "match" the baby!

That's true about the circumcision! Though I tried to explain to my husband, as excited as I was about the girl we were having, I was still sad about the little boy that we weren't.

He thought that was crazy, because how could you miss what didn't exist? And I tried to explain that before you know there is a possibility of both, and I think as women we think about those possibilities a lot more. Or is that just me??

At any rate, he said "too bad, this is the only one you get" LOL

Congratulations! Little girls are so much fun!

I've actually heard that it's easier to tell gender at this point, but the other important developmental stuff needs to wait until closer to 20 weeks so that's when they do the ultrasound.

Oh thank goodness! When I first saw the title I was afraid it was another confused gender thread.

Mich - we did that with Sarah (the 2nd daughter). We had picked out "Priscilla", and it didn't seem to fit, so we changed it. Not a bad idea to keep a list of favorite names handy just in case.

And is Sarah grateful for that?

My youngest daughter was delivered by c-section, so my hospital stay was longer than with my oldest. I had two names (Tabitha and Kortney) picked out for her and she was three days old before we named her. I had to hold her, play with her, and decide which one fit.

Her name is Tabitha. She was dubbed Tabo as soon as she came home from the hospital 22 years ago and that's all she's known by even today.

Thanks!

I'm 4 days shy of the half way point, and in the past few weeks or so I've gotten to start enjoying the feeling of the occasional movement. On Saturday, I felt my first big strong kick, and she was very active. But then yesterday, she was quiet and sedate.

I have my anatomy ultrasound on Thursday. Where they will look and make sure that everything is developing properly, and confirm that my baby girl is still a baby girl! LOL (They were pretty confident, but I remember Hoovie's surprise!)

Keep me in your thoughts today!

I got in at 2:45 for the 20 week anatomy ultrasound and I'm a bit nervous. I so want everything to be perfect and my little girl to be healthy!

I'm waiting to hear my husband reaction to what you posted on facebook! He gets irritated when people call it the miracle of life, or credit God for babies. He likes to think it's just plain simple biology. I can't wait until the first time he holds her, I bet he'll see the miracle then! LOL

Yeah... holding a new baby changes us. :)

It is biology. That's for sure. But there is nothing plain or simple about it. It is an amazing think to think that another human being is being created that will have it's own personality, voice, look etc. A brand new unique human being.

Man... it just blows my mind. :)

Is he going to come into the delivery room for the delivery? I never thought it would affect me like it did. It is an unfathomable event IMO. Beyond our comprehension.

Yes... we can track it down and show what happens along the stages... but the why's and the how's and those amazing little feet. :) I had better shut up. :)
