Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own Rules
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBbuuuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Looks like it's back to business as usual in the People's House. After reading the Constitution and sending letters of reprimand to the President the Republican controlled House of Reps does what ...??? Has two members vote who are not officially sworn in ... and then breaks their own "transparency" rules calling for three days notice before votes just so they could "delete" their "mistake". Republicans allowed for four minutes of debate on this particular resolution. --------------------------------- From http://www.salon.com/news/the_republ..._sessions_vote At least the Democrats are having fun in the minority. They're never as united as Republicans are, but most House Democrats voted against today's resolution invalidating the unconstitutional votes taken by Representatives Pete Sessions and Mike Fitzpatrick when they had not yet been sworn in as members of Congress. The resolution magically removes the votes they took while not being members, but doesn't do anything about all the other stuff they did -- like chairing the Rules Committee. Anthony Weiner trolled the Republicans with his usual vigor, taking to the floor to point out that the resolution violated the new "transparency" rules the Republicans introduced on the very first day of the new Congress. Those rules call for three days notice before votes. Republicans allowed for four minutes of debate on this particular resolution. ------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zN6D4JIG24 ----------------------------------- I'm ready for this slapstick comedy to continue. |

Repubs are in office... your eyes are once again open to political wrong doing. It's a miracle.
|
Re: Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own R
My eyes are always open to the duplicity on both sides ... it's so easy to play the victim card ... and that's what we've seen here from the freaky cons for awhile

Re: Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own R
Slow news day huh?
|
Re: Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own R
Oh the righteous indignation ... they would trample over the sanctity of the Constitution on day one!

This was their intent from the beginning ... bait and switch ... pose as guardians of the Constitution and then ... screw it ... and turn around to legislate illegitimately |

Re: Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own R
Four minutes of debate to sweep under the rug an unprecedented usurping of Constitutional power ... yep ... business as usual
|
Re: Biz as Usual: Violate the Constitution & Own R
Oh the irony in this is so rich ..... lecture everyone on the Constitution then legislate in lieu of it.
God is SO GOOD. |

You gotta love Weiner ... if not for the entertainment value ... he's HILARIOUS ... not surprisingly he represents the district where I was raised ....
classic New Yorker mad bulldog .... He knows his rules of order ... and knows how to play the system of house order ... he's a master tactician and jester. He punks so many with the same move ... and they seem to fall for it ... time after time ... He'll yield .... then while someone is just about to get it going, in mid-sentence request his time again ... it's as if they don't realize they're getting jerked on the House floor. |

DA - Looks like the Republicans are following the Democrats and the Presidents lead on the transparency vows.
Seems like I remember something about posting all bills on a website for public viewing, before voting? Didn't the President and the Dems promise this and it never happened? |

he wasnt caught flat-footed Albeit, what he had the chair recognize was that their own rules would not apply to any breaches of the Constitution as this one was on the very House floor... the resolution notwithstanding ... thus ...the scope of transparency was limited, even in light other legislation already voted on that day without Constitutional authority ... it was masterful ... and was a brilliant display of turning the tables on those who seemingly claim Constitutional superiority It does bring pause to think that if a more serious offense against our Constitution would have transpired .... that four minutes could still be allotted and the majority then rams down their "quick fix" with no open debate even with this new group that will rival the "Do Nothing" Congress Transparency ... schmanparency The new house rule putting the rep. from Wisconsin as budget czar with some absolute powers is what scares me most. And yes, it is all politics as usual from Day 1 ... of "change". You gotta think Sessions and Fitzpatrick got a tongue lashing by the establishment behind closed doors. The 2012 Campaign begins. |
