Starting in 2012 the UPCI will hold annual General Conference in St. Louis every year. I pesonally like the like this....due to the fact that I currently reside in STL. I just wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on this..... :thumbsup

I'm glad the General Conference is in Louisville KY this year since I live in KY. :)

However, I do think St Louis is a good middle of the country site and should make it more cost effective for the UPCI.

General Conference has been moved up one day. It will convene on October 11-15, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky. A special committee has been working on plans, which will be finalized at the General Board meeting in March, but please make note of several important changes:

1. The conference will begin with a message from the general superintendent on Tuesday night and will end with a Holy Ghost rally on Saturday night. The business session is scheduled for Wednesday.

2. The theme of "Let's Have Church" was chosen to reflect an emphasis on worship, preaching, and prayer in the evening services.

3. There will be an expanded schedule of seminars on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for ministers and lay leaders, so please make plans to attend and to bring a staff member with you.

Spanish Evangelism ministry beginning this year ... will only have a national conference every other year ... and on alternating years a ministerial meeting at St. Louis ....

the place from which the Pope speaks ex cathedra,
and from which the UPC Apocrypha (Manual) is distributed.

Many of these money issues ... including PPH being in the red preceded 2008 ....
I sat in meetings showing how much in the red ... or subsidized SEM was ... and that was prior to 2006.
Where is the Assembly of God having their national conference in the next few years?

The PPH no longer exists. What I found funny was right before they closed the doors on the printing, and on campus bookstore at WEC in Hazelwood, the whole building went through a very extensive remodel in prep for General Conference 2009, which was held in St. Louis. It just didn't make sense to me to spend millions on a remodel, but in turn close PPH.

I just checked AOG's website....they're National Conference is in Phoenix this year.

An org in the 21st century without a Media Division ... which was scrapped this year ?

I am sure the AG will be having it elsewhere next year ....

Churches, on all sides of the spectrum, dropping out in the last 3 years has had its effect ... no doubt ....

Think I'll go to GC this year. Never been to one. That is, if non UPcers are allowed to attend. I have friends near Louisville. Is there an admission charge or do I just "sow my largest seed gift to gain favor?

There will be "ushers" at each entrance to ensure that only "UPCers" enter any of the Conference's sessions. All attendees will be required to receive a mark in either their right hand or forehead to gain admittance. There will also be the customary $75.00 fee.

The only thing i remember about st louis was the last time my parents went and it wasnt pretty ,the crime and filth ,has it changed? Philly was also a disaster,with people getting mugged,"city of brotherly dirt"

It has changed. I have lived in STL my whole life, and know what you are referring to. It's a pretty nice city now.

I believe the cost-cutting measures will continue with the elimination of various other PAID executive positions such as Youth. Secretary, HMD secretary, etc.

Personally, under this foreseeable duress,I'd streamline Foreign Missions with Home Missions under the umbrella of Missions. With FMD taking the lead. It has the most success. Eliminating the need for two directors. HMD director the odd man out or becoming a sub- position.
