Could You Be Deceived!

Could you tell the difference between a wolf and the sheep of the Good Shepherd!

A sheep would never want to be in wolf's clothing. HIS Sheep have no reason to
appear to be something, or somone they are not.

A wolf could and perhaps would, like to be hid in sheep's clothing.
A wolf by nature is deceptive. In other words a wolf would lie/deceive someone,
because he is a wolf.
A true sheep knows that lying is deceptive, and knows where all liars will go.
A true sheep would never want to lie/deceive intentionally.

True sheep WILL hear the Good Shepherd's Voice and follow HIM! They will not
follow a stranger (know them that labor among you.) A stranger's voice that tells
them, "You will not surely die", would be suspect.

Just some thoughts, but never to offend!

I like this because it make me think, of times I thought people were on thing and ended up being something else.

I have trusted people that should not have been trusted, believed people at face value only to find that they were deceptive.

It is interesting to me that you have to suffer some pain in order to find these things out.

Elizabeth,
I think we all have to learn to be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves".
These experiences teach us and will help us to better discern these things.

You know what's worse than a wolf in sheep's clothing? A wolf in shepherd's clothing!

Sheep are very strange creatures," I don't mean that in a bad way" If you have ever had the chance to be around them like I have you learn a lot about their habits and weakness.
In old times farmers use to put a bell around the neck of the ram. Where ever he went the flock would follow. Once a farmer put a bell around the neck of a goat and turned it loose in the pasture. Guess what, the entire flock follow that goat all day. Sometimes I think we don't take enough time to stop and look we just follow the sounds that are familiar to us..

Even if a shepherd was in wolf's clothing, hopefully there would be some
wise old sheep that was so in tune with, and had listened to the Chief
Shepherd's Voice so long, that they wouldn't listen to a false shepherd's
voice. and would refuse to follow him.
Just sayin...

Mind you, we are NOT talking about true undershepherds, true men of GOd.
We're talking about wolves in sheep's clothes, whether sheep or under-shepherds

For some reason this makes me think of one of my favorite quotes from Star Trek (the original series).

Spock: It is quite logical. It was easier for you, as civilized men to behave as barbarians then it was for them, as barbarians, to behave as civilized men.

From the episode Mirror Mirror.

I have heard three people say the Lord has shown them this year would be a year of confusion. Many will be deceived. So your question is a timely question.

I pray Lord keep me from deception.

We're all prone to deception of different sorts. Unfortunately, keeping to a certain doctrine or code will not keep us from deception. What is wonderful is that God loves us, even if we are deceived.

Re: Could You Be Deceived!

Confusion! Fellow believer I have known the Lord 40 years it was going on way back then too. And after reading some of these posts here looks like it hasn't stopped! What believers are really seeing is a great persecution set against the christian faith. It began about twenty years ago on a national level in this country and now it is in a snowball effect to attack anything that reproves the unrightness which we are seeing in this country. The gospel of Christ demands change from the worlds ideologies. quote " Come you out from among them my people and be you separate saith the Lord! Paul states. Be you not conformed to this world but be you transformed by the renewing of your minds.
Today they can't cut your head off or burn you at the stake because it would disprove what they are trying to convince everyone they stand for. So, they try and disprove, rewrite, and destroy the written word of God to the point where it agrees with them and their agenda, even so in the christian circles. However they can not destroy the living word of God which is in us. And according to the Book of Revelation it states" Chapter 12; 11, And they overcame him(satan)by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testomony,( notice, their testiomony) and they loved not their lives unto death.
To give you an example. I was listening to a famous so called preacher on the radio the other day. This guy is on all the top morderate christian stations and is held in the highest honor among all the world renowned teachers and preachers in that circle. He said, " Today there are no more prophets and God is not directly speaking to anyone. We have the Bible and that is all we need" Well in his case I do not want to read the Bible that he is teaching out of because, it is one whose meaning and import words like" Jesus' BLOOD!" has been removed.
Keep your eyes on Jesus by faith and through faith/

I beg to differ from this man on the radio! Evidently he does not understand
that in order to understand the Bible, we must have the Spirit to lead and
guide us into all truth. Many read the Bible but without the Light to illuminate
the Word, they cannot see all that needs to be seen. Makes me think of those
that had heard John's message, but the One who John said was to come after
him, they cannot see. It seems they can see no further than what John pro-
claimed. Repent, for the Kingdom is at hand. Well, HE came. The Kingdom
of God came. But it didn't and hasn't come to everyone because they didn't
and couldn't/can't understand, even today, what the Kingdom of God was/is.

They neglect or reject the very thing they are still looking for. Just as the
Jews are still looking for their Messiah to come. HE CAME, but they didn't
recognize the way He came.
Humble and lowly. GOD sent His Son giftwrapped
in flesh. When the work His Father (Holy Ghost) had sent His Son to do was
finished, he went back to where he had come from. Then HE returned in the
POWER of the Spirit, on the day of Pentecost. How many recognized Him with
out His fleshly body. How could the fleshly body of Jesus gotten into every
human. No, He walked WITH His disciples, telling them, He was WITH them BUT
would be IN them. Today He is not with us in bodily form, but HE IS IN those
who believe and receive Him. Those who reject the HOLY GHOST, reject JESUS!
Christ in you, the hope of glory.

1 Corinthians 13:8-13 Now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face
then shall we know even as we are known.
So tongues ,prophecy, and any other gifts of the Spirit are not done away with as some say.
When the last person that needs to be edified, has been, then these gifts may cease ,right about the same time God will return and we will see him face to face , as the scripture suggests.
There will be no more knowing in part, for then will we know even as we are known(which is ,completely inside and out,by God) and no more need to prophesy in part, why would we prophesy, when God will be right there by us,we can just talk to him face to face,(no more seeing through a glass darkly)
That which is in part will be done away with, but charity will abide FOREVER PRAISE THE LORD,for God is love and this is his commandment, that we love one another, thank God!!!!
But until then 1Corinthians 14:39

What an incredible post! Our human frame will struggle till the end when it comes to understanding, and we will never obtain the absolute Truth. We won't even come close.

It's like studying the Universe; the deeper we go the more there is. There was a day when Man did not know about an Atom. This “Little” discovery changed the World, and this was just an Atom. What other discoveries are out there? The ones which are right before us?

I think we are all somewhat deceived, and following people who won't admit this are dangerous because none of us have arrived. Human limitation and failure will be with us until the grave, and that includes our weakness in Faith.

The older I get the more I laugh at how we think we know so much. When I decided to climb a Mountain, seeing life and humanity from a distance, BIG things became SMALL and I realized what a fool I’ve been. Perspective and Contrast are very humbling, and neither of these are found within the "City" of our 4 walled little lives.
