Pentecostal Choruses

I am looking to integrate some of the older pentecostal choruses into our music program. As I've stated in the past I use mostly contemporary christian music in our music program but, here lately, I've been looking for some older songs... pentecostal style songs... to work in. Generally as the opening song.

Some examples I have come up with are...

Praise. him, praise him,Praise him in the morning etc

Living he loved me, dying he saved me etc

My God Is Real

How did you feel when you came out of the wilderness

So... I was just wondering if I could get some other suggestions from those who were around "back in the day" or still sing these types of songs.

Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith.
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a littel bit of Faith.
You don't need a whole lot,
Just use what ya got,
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of faith.

Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith,
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith.
A whole lot is not what you need,
About the size of a mustard seed.
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of faith.

I just came to tell you what the good Lord's done for me.
I just came to tell you how He set my spirit free.
Picked me up, turned me around, set my feet on solid ground.
I just came to tell you what the good Lord's done for me.

Just want to tell you, I'm thankful for all that You have done.
For the stars and the moonlight, and the setting sun.
And when my work on earth is through, I'm coming home to be with You,
Just want to tell You, I'm thankful, that's all.

Post the chorus when you find them. I think this is interesting.

I will have to look for my older chorus.

Jesus Be a Fence All About Me everyday
I want him to protect me, guide me all the way
I know he can. I know he will.
He'll fight my battles if I keep still
Jesus be a fence all about me everyday.

...or pretty close at least. I have heard that song since about 1950 something.

Yeah, was the favorite chorus of an old sailor. He got popped in the eye and was honorably discharged. Now he sells chicken.

Come to our church.....I solemnly promise, left hand on a bible, right hand in the air, that you will NEVER hear any of this.

This thread reminds me of Numbers 14:3 when the Hebrew Children wanted to go back to Egypt.:heeheehee

Thanks for the invitation. That is just too far of a drive for me. The church that I attend when I attend uses new material. Most of it is vertical praise. I love it.

Re: Numbers 14:3
Egypt is a typology of sin in the Jewish Testament. Faulty, faulty. The posters have not expressed a desire to return to Egypt. The thread starter is just ...nostalgic.

My friend, typology is whatever anyone wants to make it. Applying typologies to Old Testament stories is subjective and Egypt can represent sin to you and awful songs to me! :) It's like these numerologists that say, "The number 5 in the bible represents grace." Really??? Says who??

So my Numbers 14 analogy (while meant mostly to be funny) is NOT faulty!:grumpy

I loved that old song too.

I especially like that old timey altar call song that says,

"Oh whine not tonight. Oh whine not tonight
Wilt thou be saved, Oh whine not tonight

It always made me cry.

You gotta know when to hold'em
Know when to fold'em
Know when to walk away
N'know when ta run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
They'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done.

Not because I love the song. But I hate it when I can't remember something. It'll drive me crazy until I figure it out. Someone told me today that cholesterol medication can cause short term memory loss. I told Walt about that. He said, "ya, so I've heard. wait. What causes that?" duh!!! I wanted to :smack him upside the head!

Your welcome.
We still sing that at Baptisms.

Another verse goes like this.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the name of the Lord.
Is the name of the Lord.
Is the name of the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the name of the Lord.
Since the name of the Lord has been revealed.
