A.A. Allen
Evangelist A. A. Allen, known as "God's Man of Faith and Power", a leading healing evangelist of the 50's and 60s was born March 27th, 1911. He died June 11, 1970 in San Francisco, CA. He would have been 100 years old this month.
While his life and ministry is pock-marked with controversy, no one can deny his influence as a Pentecostal evangelist. |
Re: A.A. Allen
Back in the 60's he prayed for 2 of my Aunts that had Cancer. The one lived another 22 years. The other lived another 45 years dying last year.

Re: A.A. Allen
He was quite popular in his day...

Re: A.A. Allen
I have thought of the dream he had a few times over the last few years. It seems like there was something that happened in the Gulf of Mexico and when the oil spill was on I was wondering if it had anything to do with the gulf turning black.
But I guess not. Because I was never able to find that reference. |
Re: A.A. Allen
is this the same aa allen the man who would get drunk and couldnt preach ,dying from liver failure

Re: A.A. Allen

He was another man that had great potential, but other things were more important to him than the blessings of God.
I am reminded of a message that I heard at a camp meeting a few years ago titled Anointed but not Blessed. |
Re: A.A. Allen
It seems his was a ministry that proves Christ's words that one can perform genuine miracles and be used of God and still not enter the Kingdom. "I never knew you."

Re: A.A. Allen
I agree sir, and it should be enough to make all fear, tremble, and walk carefully before the Lord our God all of our days.

At the height of his ministry success, his enemies slandered Allen publicly with accusations of being a drunkard. . . . The Coroner’s Report recorded the cause of death being “fatty infiltration of the liver” as a result of the few times he used alcohol in his last days to alleviate the excruciating pain of his arthritis. |

Re: A.A. Allen
Bro. A.A. Allen grew up with my grandfather in Arkansas. Whereas Grampa never "bought into" the Pentecostal "nonsense" (his father was a Baptist minister), Allen wasn't raised in a church and took to Pentecostalism with a vigor. Whereas my grandfather died at the age 90, Allen died at the age of 59 from liver failure brought on by acute alcoholism.
Grampa eased himself off of religion when he reached adulthood and died pretty much an atheist. By the time I came along he was very much against religion and matters of faith were not to be discussed in his presence - not by his command, however. Others made the insistence. I never truly even began to understand the complexities until I was much older. And even then, I still don't really understand. There was definitely a great deal of resentment directed toward people like A.A. Allen, however. A lot of folks say the alcoholism that is so prevalent in NE Arkansas is due to "interbreeding" with "Injuns." My grandfather, however, had more Cherokee blood than Allen and he seldom took a sip at all. |

Re: A.A. Allen
A.A. Allen was one of the influences that helped me to see that there was more for me as a Christian than what I was being taught in a Baptist Church. It was through listening to ministers like Jack Coe, A.A. Allen, and C.M. Ward and also reading some of their material that I realized the gifts of the Spirit had not ceased in the first century.
From what I understand, A.A. Allen was a man greatly gifted and anointed by God but he had a problem with alcohol. I have heard that his death was caused by his alcoholism. I can't judge him. |

Re: A.A. Allen
Why do you guys feel the need to assassinate the character of a man you never knew. I know MANY people that worked directly with Brother Allen and testified that they never saw him drink and never smelled alcohol on him and NONE of them believed the stories that were put out in the media.
The Assemblies of God hated him because they could not control him. He left them and took thousands of A/G people out of the A/G and started independent churches. The UPC and the oneness people went to his meetings for healing and help but joined in the character assassination because he was not controllable and did not do what they thought he should. He did more for the Kingdom of God in ONE service than most churches do in a lifetime. He built an entire city - Miracle Valley, AZ in the desert and a Bible College. Many people still revere Evangelist A A Allen as a man before his time. Many thousands were saved, healed & delivered under his ministry. Churches were planted across America and around the world wherever he went. He was a soul winner and a man that loved people and was very generous with those that worked with him. More notable miracles were done under his ministry and he Fathered in the Gospel many Pastors and Evangelists that continue to preach Bible Deliverance & MIRACLES FOR TODAY! I do not believe ONE report of his use of alcohol. I believe it was a lie to discredit his ministry. He was a great man of Faith and operated in the power of Jesus Christ. |
Re: A.A. Allen
A.A.Allen Is In The Hands Of A Just Judge. So I'll leave him alone.
I'm trying reach those who are alive and point them to Christ, rather than drag up the dead. I'll say this if God touched anybody and did something for them in The meetings of COE,ALLEN,Branham,ROBERTS etc,etc I'll rejoice over what God did. |

I fear for many who consistently try to find error and fraud in those who operate in an Apostolic fashion of the gifts of the Spirit and the miraculous, and would rather side with the mainline denominational world that is bereft of the real workings of God. |
Re: A.A. Allen
I will say this after speaking to the media, newspapers, NPR, TV, News, etc... that I have never - in 39 years of ministry, have I ever been quoted correctly. Every time I have ever given an interview, they have slanted it and cut it up and made it sound like something that it was not. You CANNOT win with the secular media. They Hate God and the Gospel.
I have heard Evangelist Gene Martin and other say many time - that worked with Brother Allen - If he did the miracles he did by drinking something - you need to find out what he drank and drink some yourself! The facts are - it has NEVER been proven and it a lie that has circulated from the time he left the Assemblies of God. |
Re: A.A. Allen

As far as doing miracles and being false, that is possible. Jesus said we can perform wonders and all, and yet he never knew us. And he meant genuine miracles. So the line about doing miracles by drinking something we should obtain is not on course. But I am not saying that confirms Allen was false. As you say the media hates Jesus and will do anything to discredit true people of God. People should take heed lest they be brought up on discrediting a true move God when That Great Day comes. |
Re: A.A. Allen
I referenced what Gene Martin said because he and those that worked with Brother Allen day by day by day and lived with him - never did believe one word of the accusations against AAA.
I have heard from many how that during his camp meeting at Miracle Valley, he would cook at his house for many ministers and feed them yet fasted the entire time - 21 days at a time. I know people that were worldly sinners and they got saved in his tent here in Atlanta and now preach around the world and pastor great churches. I do know that Leroy Jenkins basically had his arm cut off and AAA prayed for him and it was healed instantly and he has prayed for people around the world with that hand and God has healed them. I certainly do not agree with all that LJ has done or does but one thing for sure - he prays for people in the Name and Authority of Jesus Christ and people are healed! You cannot restrict GOD to your box! He is not contained by man. You can make up all the rules you want and say God does not use anyone that does not do it your way but - God will use ANYBODY that is a willing vessel. Name me ONE perfect disciple! They all had faults but God forgives. I LOVE to watch the video's of AAA and I have a lot of his books, mags and records. He was God's Man of Faith & Power and I do not believe one word of the drinking and drunkenness that was told to discredit him. |

For me, his use (or even his none-use) of alcohol doesn't really impact the things that God was doing and continues to do. It's just an unfortunate condition brought on by many factors, "sin" often NOT being the thing that gets one "hooked." Given the incidences of alcoholism within my family, given the coincidence that my own great-uncle Allen (who could have passed as A.A. Allen's twin) died at his own hand in misery brought on in part by alcoholism... Add to that the fact that A.A. Allen was a "Cherokee half breed" as much of my forebears were. And, given that my own family hails from the same small town in Independence County, Arkansas... the details of this man's life do fascinate me. |

We need men of faith and power like this today, with a powerful rhema on their lips and a true move of the Holy Ghost in their heart. I saw in the videos the miraculous take place and my faith was moved tremendously. I'll leave the haters alone. They want more of control than having the Holy Ghost move as He sees fit. |
Re: A.A. Allen
I knew Allen quite well. I worked with him for a while. I can attest to the truth of his genuine love for people and his intense desire to see the power of God working on behalf of the lost, the sick, the diseased, the oppressed and possessed and down trodden. I first became acquainted with him about 1954 in his great New Orleans crusade. He shook the city and many people came out of Catholicism and filled up Pentecostal churches of all stripes. I knew some of those people who remained faithful to God until their deaths.
I've been in many, many Allen Miracles Crusades and never knew him to have indulged in alcohol or any ungodly vice. I am sure that these rumors are false, perpetuated by those who could not control or influence him. Truly, he was God's man of faith and power. I stood within just inches away as God worked the most wonderful miracles as I watched with my own eyes. I've seen almost every miracle that you can think of in the lives, hearts and bodies of people who attended his meetings. However, I did see a change in Allen from the first time I first met him. He took on a showmanship disposition and started calling himself and his platform workers as "stars." His dress took on a change also...from that of a very conservative appearance in dress to bright colors and flash. I was disappointed in that. Some time in the early 1960s he began preaching the "prosperity" message. I bought one of his books entitled, "Send Now, Prosperity." I never approved of the way that the message was presented. I was also disappointed in that. Still, God used him in a mighty way. I have watched demons started manifesting themselves when he walked out on the platform. I never knew anyone who the power over the devil to cast them out as he did. He was truly a man of great faith. I would never disparage the man by accusing him of something that I did not have any evidence of him doing. The San Francisco Coroner recorded his death as something other than what has been widely reported. He did not die from "acute alcoholism" as his enemies would have you to believe. He had a liver condition that attributed to his death from which some concluded that it had to be from alcohol since he had been charged with drunk driving in Tenn in the early 1950s shortly after breaking away from the Assemblies of God. This was never proven. I heard Kent Rogers tell how that he and Allen was poisoned by something that they had eaten, only to learn many years later, by a confession that someone had spiked their food which induced their condition. I am not surprised nor would I doubt it since I am personally acquainted how deadly religious politics can be and often are. I would advise everyone to not take up a rumor without personal evidence against a man of God unless you want to face that in judgment. |
Re: A.A. Allen
Interesting accounts from some,i was only reporting what i had heard many many years ago, 2 or 3 points, my head tells me that chemically dependent people can hide their dependency from even their closest friends ,i wont bother to go into any examples, however, i also know what happened in my town when the apostolic church first arrived and started having success, showing people in the catholic church(the town was heavily french catholic)the truth and all hell broke loose, with the local priests even showing up and disturbing our services, in addition to that he was in a town that i suppose even then might have been a gay haven. So i can see where, very easily this could have been forged by someone seeking revenge or some extra money from someone.

Re: A.A. Allen
It seems that no amount of proof will satisfy if one's mind is made up. There is no indication that the coroner lied in the autopsy report. It is true until proven false.
The controversy surrounding A A Allen is well documented and his stage magic tricks are pure grade 'B'. He specialized in the slight-of-mind of his audience. |
Re: A.A. Allen
I am sorry for those who do not believe in the miraculous, who sides with the slanderers, who choose attack instead of faith. Such people are people I no longer associate with. Seen too much miraculous in my life, and I have seen the supernatural. What Allen did was not slight of hand, but was the miraculous power of God at work.

I have prayed for people and cast out devils as Allen did, and I suppose someone is saying I am using slight-of-mind, too. But I genuinely believe it is God and the actual supernatural at work. |
