Felicity 05-09-2007 05:08 PM

The 80s were some of the best years of my entire life! Appointed as missionaries to HK in 1980. Began deputation in Jan. '81 and arrived in HK Aug. of '81.

I can't begin to tell all the GREAT adventures we had -- both in the natural and in the Holy Ghost. Absolutely amazing! Awesome! Memory is one of the most wonderful, powerful and outstanding gifts God has given to us.

I got the Holy Ghost in the eighties. It was awesome!

Hoovie 05-09-2007 05:30 PM

After living life as an Old Order Mennonite for 16 years, I got a drivers license and car and left home. I subsequently came to know the God of my parents and started my journey of faith.

Both were good experiences for me, though I could have waited a few years on the decision to leave home.

Best memory for me is: I HAD A BABY IN THE 80s and he is still living for God today!!!:bliss

ILG 05-09-2007 05:36 PM

The first years of the eighties were spent going to high school, going to state in music vocals a few times, choir president, FHA vice president, track, met my future husband....going to college being wild as wild can be, partying it up....then the next half of the eighties, getting the Holy Ghost, moving out of state, getting married, getting into the UPC, and having a baby.

The 80's... I loved the 80's.. :) :thumbsup :icecream What a fun decade.. lots of events took place in the 80's.

I was a teen in most of the 80's.. spent time driving all over to conferences, camps, rally's... good thing I drove a small car.

I had a 1981 Jetta VW like this one only it was a gold champaign color.. I hated the color as a 16 year old in 1983.... now I look back and think how ungrateful I was. whining about colors... *sigh* It had a sunroof and was a diesel... got excellent gas mileage (practical side of me coming out since I am now 40..lol )
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...-JettaMkII.jpg

I had big hair... including the poofy stuff in front... although I refused to wear a mohawk type poof that so many of the girls wore. :lol I looked like this
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...Picture002.jpg

Had an awesome time being a teenager, graduated from High School in 1985.. never went on to college though (big regret)... worked in politics.. loved every min of it.

Then I got Married in Feb 1989... http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8.../ATT430073.jpg
fuzzy pic because it is a picture of a picture by cell phone.

Then 3 months later got pregnant with my beautiful daugher Elaine... who now loves all the 80's stuff.. and thinks it is just the coolest.

Sis Lisa, tell those girls the Hoover family says hello! I just can't believe how they are growing up!

PS Did you ever get the leak in your roof fixed???? I thought about that several times and wished I were closer to you so I could take care of it for you!

This is so sweet. I believe as Christians, we need to do more things like this!!

It's not like I was offering a new roof or anything - it sounded rather minor to me.... But yes helping others has it's own reward. In fact, :thumbsup I worked on a baptist ministers roof today at no charge to him.

Well, it might sound minor, but I believe it's an area that could be improved on these days....taking care of each other!
