The subject of these two verses is YESHUA is it not?

The Christian is BORN OF YESHUA. He is the Father of the Christian! I rejoice to call Yeshua "FATHER".

I don't speak or understand any foreign language except a little Spanish. The word does not appear to be either English or Spanish. I'm careful as to who I claim is my father. Many who claim to be able to speak and write some of these foreign languages have a lot of DIABLO in them as they try to exalt themselves as some "great one." Seriously, I doubt if all of these "Yeshua" speakers could find a bano or Servicio in Athens.

I am not impressed in the least. As far as I am concerned, just speak English or do not speak at all. I don't want to hear all that junk.

You absolutely did not offend me. I am used to hearing the name of Yeshua attacked by supposed Apostolics. Now Im not including you in that just saying almost any time I use the Hebrew name someone in the thread directly or indirectly attack it.

I am even told to speak English or dont speak AT ALL right in this thread!

Now if I said that the name "Yeshua" is certainly closer than the name Jesus to the Hebrew Messiah many again "supposed" Apostolics would become angry. And if we would say the name Jesus is only about 400 years old they would likely become angry even tho I have nowhere at any time in my life spoken against the English transliteration.

So how many of you "English only" people reject Yeshua as your Father?

As a young believer in Jesus I came into contact with a world wide Pentecostal group called "The Ceylon Pentecostal Mission". Now this was in 1977-1980 when I had an association with them. There were believers from many nations. You heard the Messiahs name in more than one tongue.

I rejoiced greatly being among these people as they were lovers of Jesus Christ. When I heard him called "Yeshua" I was not offended. These same ones who called Jesus "Yeshua" were some of the most bold and courageous disciples I ever knew. They witnessed In Brooklyn at one of the Synagogues there and took a ferocious beating from the good people there.

That didnt stop them from witnessing in Jerusalem where they met with the same results. Conversions along with persecutions. Yeshua was a favored name among them but any name that was used that corresponded to the Messiah was honored. English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Indian among others were used and no one seemed offended.

There was love there and holiness. I enjoyed those days. Fast forward to Apostolic Oneness (at least American style). Oh how magnificent the truth they taught me of baptism in Jesus name and the Oneness of God! How I looked forward to joining an Apostolic Assembly!

Boy was I disappointed. In Oneness and Acts 2:38 they have no equal. Beyond that I have seen very little of the New Testament Culture I so long for.

Nonetheless to teach and rejoice in the truth that Yeshua/Jesus is the EVERLASTING FATHER is the glue that ties me to the Oneness Brotherhood.

Im not about to let an offence keep me from continuing doing that so I now return to the thread topic.

Two days ago I baptized my 39 year old daughter into the name of Jesus Christ. I know you as one I can ask to pray with us that she will receive the Holy Spirit baptism.

The Lord Almighty is the Father of the Christian!

One of the Bibles I use is called the CJB or Complete Jewish Bible. It is copyrighted in 1998 by David Stern. He uses the name Yeshua.

I have a Bible called the OJB or Orthodox Jewish Bible, copyright 2002, in pdf format. It uses the name Yehoshua.

I have a book called The Jewish New Testament Commentary by David Stern. It has a copyright date of 1992. In his comments in Matthew chapter 1 he says “...the Messiah’s name is explained on the basis of what he will do. Etymologically the name Yeshua is a contraction of the name Y’hosua (English Joshua) which means YHWH saves. It is also the masculine form of the Hebrew word yeshu’ah which means salvation.
...According to Professors David Flusser and Samuel Safrai, Orhodox Jews, Yeshu was how the name Yeshua was pronounced by Galileeans in the first century....instead of saying ye-SHOO-ah they said YEH-shoo....”

I’m not an expert and I don’t know how “expert” David Stern or the professors he quotes are. I some times use the name “Yeshua” because that is the way I’ve heard it pronounced by others, but since my native tongue is English, I ordinarily just say “Jesus” or “Jesus Christ” to differentiate between Him and the other folks who were called ”Jesus’ in our KJV New Testament. When I was in Mexico in 2004 on a short mission trip i said “Jesus” (Spanish pronunciation) or “Jesucristo.”

To me, the pronunciation of the name in whatever language is not the point. A name is only sound waves or ink on paper that represent Who He is. Faith in HIM is the point. :D

I never said the name is not important, I meant the name is a POINTER or SIGN to the PERSON. And whatever a person says for the name in whatever language it is said in is not the point. The point is that it must point a person's heart towards the One True God. A sign is important, but not as important as the direction the sign is pointing us.

If a person mispronounces the name or has a hare-lip, God knows Who the name is directed to, and that is the important thing. Correctly pronouncing a name or using a certain language offers no benefit over the other.

The problem if have, is that there is no record that the actual name was Yeshua. That is only speculation. We have to go by what is hard fact. You can not prove that none of the other variations of the meaning "Jehovah has become salvation" is the proper Hebrew name.

Using the name in your language is what is proper.
In English Jesus is the proper name.
In Spanish, Jesús is the proper name.

Most "Apostolics" would say you must use Iésous (Jesus) because that is the only recordings by the Apostles that was used, for they wrote in Greek not Hebrew.

The topic here was an attempt to show the beloved Oneness people yet another way to teach that he is indeed our Father. I was not demeaning the name of Jesus at all. Neither was I saying someone was in the wrong if they do not use Yeshua. So you should be ok with what I have said.:highfive

By the same token you certainly cannot prove the Apostles ever called the Messiah "Jesus". As late as the 1700's he was being called "Jesu"in English. Were those people wrong? Would it be wrong for English speakers NOW to call him that?

My name is James and I am usually called Jim.

It is my understanding that the names "Jaime" and "Diego" are Spanish equivalents to "James." Back when I was a teenager some Mexicans called me Jaime but most of them called me Jeem. When I was in Mexico in 2004 people there called me Djeem.

Here is the point in your use of the name and why people make reference to it. You are making an effort to use it rather than Jesus. Period.

You are doing so for a reason. It makes no difference to me, but you appear to be sending forth a message that others are incorrect to use the name JESUS, and they should be using Yehshua, despite your claim that is not the case. But it makes people ask themselves why bother to use "Yehshua" if it matters not? It takes more typing to type Yehshua. So, obviously you think it pleases the Lord to use it rather than not use it. So you make people suspicious, and some so much so that they address it. Me? I care less. Just telling why I think you are getting flack over it. Whether you intend it or not, it gives the impression of arrogance and that one person is "in the know" moreso than others.

Anyway, type what you want. :D

Still the same person, just use the language you are talking in. So in any language the word for "God's Honor" would be my name. And so as the name of God is "Jehovah is salvation", using that translation is a native tongue would be proper. It't is not about the phonics, but about the meaning!

John says in 1 John 2:28-28 WE ARE BORN OF HIM!

Yeshua is THE FATHER OF LIGHTS. If you are LIGHT in the Lord then he is YOUR FATHER. Be encouraged that he is being MAGNIFIED. Be encouraged he is revealing TO YOU that he is YOUR FATHER!

So it would be improper for me to call the Messiah by the name his Mother and the Apostles called him? I dont see that in the Bible.

As to the Apostles writing in Greek that is pure speculation.

Unless you can find Hebraic copies. The point was: There are so many different ways in Hebrew to say "Jehovah has become Salvation" that you can not be 100% it was Yeshua. However, it is written in Greek, that we can attest to.

Indeed. Owning to the undeniable fact that Christ, the Son of God, is divine (YHWH) he does fill a parental role to the creation, and the new life he creates within through the cross he bore.

Still yet, Yeshua never claimed to be the Father of the Son. The scripture reveals him as praying to and relating with His Father in Heaven. This is not simply flesh praying to Spirit, but rather God in Flesh - the Son of God praying to his Father in Heaven.

"Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;..."

Thats kind of odd because here on this Forum I have myself used the name of Jesus thousands of times. Two days ago I baptized my daughter into the name of Jesus Christ. It would also be odd that if I were trying to say its wrong to use the name "Jesus" there is not a single post on the Forum where I can be found doing so.

So when you say I am doing that DESPITE WHAT I CLAIM this seems to indicate you think I am a deceiver.

Well if I am coming here with a hidden agenda to teach that its incorrect to use the name Jesus then I would no doubt be teaching such on my own web site where I could do so freely.
