Ice Cream Sundae Bar - Suggestions?

I'm doing an Ice Cream Sundae Bar for a graduation party and would like some suggestions to make sure I don't forget anything.

I need more candy choices, so give me your preferences please! I'm doing the Jelly Beans and M&M's for some color. I can't think of any other candy off the top of my head.

3 to 4 scoops ice cream per person

Chocolate ice cream
Vanilla ice cream
Strawberry ice cream

Cups
Straws
Bowls
Spoons
Napkins
Ice cream cones - regular and waffle

Bananas
Cherries
Sprinkles
Nuts - sliced almonds; walnuts pieces; pecan pieces
M&M's
Crushed Butterfingers
Snickers bar pieces
Toffee pieces
Jelly Beans
Crushed Peppermint

Carmel topping
Chocolate topping
Strawberry Sauce

Whipped cream

Ice Cream Scoops
Bowl with water to clean scoops

Dr. Pepper
Coke

It does! I'm going to surprise her. I want to do a tiered effect as the main centerpiece with all the candy, nuts, etc. I have some pretty clear vases I'm going to use for that.

Going to also have helium balloons as the centerpieces (3 per table with curled ribbon in her school colors) on the tables. Fun, fun..... Can't wait to see her face when she walks in! :thumbsup

OK.

Brownies work great in sundaes! And I can't think of any way making brownies more "interesting". Nothing comes to mind at all. Nope. How about you, Randy?

That's an idea to keep the ice cream cold. I'd like to have something rectangle for the three choices. I suppose they could be using Styrofoam ice chests. :hmmm

LOL! Straight up brownies!!!! :thumbsup

Yes, I was thinking of brownies or a Texas Sheet Cake. The cake is easy to make and very easy to cut and serve. Of course brownies are not as moist and would do better with the ice cream. :hmmm

You can rig up little catapults to make serving the ice cream much more fun!

If children are going to be there they like gummy bears.

I like the pastel colored mint chips (shaped like chocolate chips) and they have little white perils on the flat side (see largest candy jar in grad party pic I posted yesterday).

Uh, no, Timmy. Besides, my husband would be there and you don't want to give him anything that sparks the imagination. All the little kids would be dripping with ice cream. I can hear him now - "Cuatro!!!!!!!!" BLOP! :toofunny

Okay, Gummy Bears it is! LOL!

Thanks for the mint chip idea. I was wanting to do something with mint. That's a great idea and gives more festive color than the chocolate covered mints.

I was reading that you can use ice packs, in the ice, and rock salt to keep the ice frozen longer. But, if I wrapped the styrofoam ice chests with material, it would get wet and continue dripping down to the table. What could I use? I don't want to spend a lot on that item.

Yeah, the Magic Shell is always good to have. The wrapped peanut butter cups would look good too! I already had the chocolate topping listed.

Thanks! :thumbsup

No, I mean the thick hot fudge topping versus the thin chocolate syrup. :D

LOL! I'm going to do the thin chocolate syrup. I have enough going on without a nasty mess with all the kids that will probably show up. LOL!

That reminds me - LOL! The other day someone was asking me a question at church and one of the children was being prayed for. Sooooo, the person is talking and we look at the child realizing we should pray for her. But, we were also in a hurry, soooooo.... I said, "God help that little kid", and then continued explaining what the person was wanting to know. :toofunny

The person said, "Now I know where your son gets that." :toofunny

Well, I am thinking the thinner chocolate will go further. Did you see all the stuff I have to purchase?

I guess when I said "kids" would be there, it reminded me of it. LOL! She had plenty of people praying for her anyway. Where TWO or more are gathered in my name - right? :heeheehee We were standing to the side anyway, so no one heard me.

Yes, the syrups will go further; that's true. And I did see all the things you have to purchase so I figured, "What's one more?" LOL

Well, don't forget the berries. I'm thinkin' that strawberries, blueberries & raspberries would be good. Perhaps cherries as well. And Redi-Whip!!

If I think of anything else for you to buy, I'll let you know. :tiphat

:heeheehee :thumbsup

I already listed Redi-Whip (Whipped Cream) and Cherries.

I'm not going to do fresh fruit. Strawberries are very high in pesticides and I am sure not buying organic for a group!

I have an expensive cheesecake recipe. It cost almost $20 to make. I made two for a Christmas banquet - Cherry topping and Blueberry. No one wanted the Blue Berry, so I won't do that and I feel it would be the same for Raspberries. Fruits out. But, I will do a bottled strawberry topping.

Thanks for your suggestions! Going to watch, Narnia The Voyage of The Dawn Treader.

Later gater!

Just a thought......buy those plastic colored table cloths at the dollar store - - they are in all sorts of colors. You could line the cooler and let them fall out all around the outside. Simple, cheap and colorful. The buckets of ice cream would hold it in place - - no taping or anything.

Great idea! I suppose plastic would be okay since it's a graduation. Think they would sweat though? Anything I used, I could wrap it around the container and keep the ice filled to the top. Even if the white edges showed, it would be okay. Thanks! :thumbsup

This is a great recipe. I have tested it and it does very well.

Brownies for a Crowd

4 sticks butter
8 oz chocolate baking squares
8 eggs
3 c. white sugar
2 c. brown sugar
3 c. unbleached flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. vanilla

15x11x3 pan (greased)

Melt butter and chocolate. Beat eggs until frothy. Slowly add sugars to eggs. Pour in butter and chocolate mixture. Combine dry ingredients. Slowly add to chocolate mixture. When smooth, add vanilla mixing well.

Bake @ 350 for 20 to 24 minutes.
