Who has been to Chattanooga?
I am planning to go to Chattanooga later this month and I wondered if anybody has any comments about it. I am planning to take a boat ride down the Tennessee River.

No kids. Just two people over 50.
We might go by Nashville and take in the free museum there. |

I lived in nashville for a few years, but im not recalling anything of big interest there to be honest. gatlinburg and pigeon forge has some nice stuff. |
Re: Who has been to Chattanooga?
We plan to go to Gatlinburg to see Cooter. We thought about Dollywood but decided we don't really care about going there. The only thing I might like would be the 5 mile train ride, but I don't want to pay the cost of admission for that.

Re: Who has been to Chattanooga?
I loved Chattoonooga when I visited.
Spent one night there, hung out into the midnight hours on this bridge with musicians and teenage runaways. We had great conversations! Everyone else was SO nice. I wish there were more jobs there. |
Re: Who has been to Chattanooga?
Went canoeing on the Ocee River not far from there. Seemed like a lot to do outdoors in the area.

Norman's late father baptized a younger sister and brother and myself, in Jesus Name in
1953. His father went to school with my father. Both were baptized in Jesus Name and received the Holy Ghost as teenagers around 1933-34. Falla39 |

Chatanooga? Isn't that close to Cleveland, TN? headquarters for the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) and for Perry Stone Ministries, and for the Headquarters Church of an organization I'm ordained with --The Churches of Jesus Christ International. I've never been there but hope to drive down for a weekend some time at the HQ church.

We went to Chattanooga, a few years ago and really enjoyed Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls!
www.lookoutmountain.com/ They wanted to ride The Incline Railway, but I was too chicken at the time. I've read more about it and I think I would ride it now. :) http://www.ridetheincline.com/ |

Re: Who has been to Chattanooga?
I love it. In fact we thought about living there. I am an outdoor kind of girl.
You can go kayaking down the rivers. There is an amusement park that we liked. Chattanooga has a lot of great suburbs that have nice things to do. College Town is right on its border and has a Little Debbie Cake factory.lol......There is a book store known as McKays that my husband breathes hard about. They have huge bins outside where they give free books to any one who wants them and since they have more than one Seminary in the area many are theology books. Look Out Mountain is great and I loved the Incline and Ruby Falls but not as much as I liked the Museum there up on the Mountain. There is a really cool museum that has historic stuff. If you want to just go up there and to the Museum and the park and go walking its really nice. We are in the same age range. I am 49 and my husband is 55. There are also nice little places within driving distance that are worth the trip. I love going over to Athens and touring The Mayfield Dairy which has a great ice cream parlor and is inexpensive. The tour is free. Its not just looking over cows either. Its production and packing etc. Pretty nice. There is a Russell Stover Candy store there also which has some great candy apples. If you like hiking then that area is great. |

Re: Who has been to Chattanooga?
I live about 30 miles from Chattanooga. Downtown Chattanooga is really fun. LA Dodgers has a minor league team that plays there and the games are always fun-not sure if they will be in town if you are here or not. We enjoy just walking around downtown at all the shops and especially the shops behind Coolidge Park. Of course like others have said - Ruby Falls, Incline Railway and Rock City - all are really neat places. Hope you enjoy your trip. I LOVE living in this part of the country.
