Hi All

Hello everyone,

Would you pray for us? We are having to take our renters to small claims court for back payment and damages and they are throwing a huge hissy fit and making all kinds of outrageous claims. Yes, I want to win this and I think we will.

I think I am having some pretty severe flashbacks to when we were sued by those people when we pastored. I have never completely gotten over that and my nerves are shot. My husband said "These renters have nothing to go on. They are just blowing smoke". And they are.....but they have the same spirit that the people that sued us had......they up and up and up the ante, even though they are in the wrong. They make (and made) huge illegitimate claims that are completely unfounded. Only, the torture of those folks that sued us went on daily for about three years.

Do you know what it is like to have to be hyper vigilant, on your toes, ready for psychological warfare for the course of three years? Not just with the people that sued, but with the church, the district who was watching our every step because of false accusations etc? Having the cops called on you, having your lights smashed out on your truck, having people go by at three o'clock in the morning for weeks beeping their horn, following you, stalking you and there was nothing NOTHING you could do about it? Nope, I guess you probably don't.

Anyway, I have been sitting here this morning documenting everything, calling and emailing and compiling information. This is no where near the battle we had then.

But, emotionally, I am suffering. Please pray for me.

Re: Hi All

:highfivesure ILG , I'm sure I don't have to tell you to rejoice over this and to pray for your enemies....

rejoice because Jesus has already given you the victory over this..

every trial , every situation , condition in life we face is already solved by Jesus..but we must find that place of rest in Him...
let the peace of God rule in your heart to which also you are called into one body....
It seems we never learn to bless them who curse us..some how they find a way to get under your skin to blind you of the greater picture..That's what Satan does, that's his job.

Re: Hi All

Thanks everybody. I think my nerves are calming down and logic is starting to take over. Amazing how emotions can be stirred once again and make you feel like you are back there going through stuff. Kind of like military men coming back from war and jumping under tables when a car backfires. I used to jump under tables a lot (metaphorically) and haven't in a long time. But I jumped under a table today. I think writing this book and bringing up all these old memories plus this small claims suit really did a number on me today. But, thankfully, I seem to be coming out of it. Thanks for the prayers!

boy, oh boy, ILG, I am really getting anxious to read your book. But in the meantime, the need right now is for us to hold you up in prayer. And THAT we will do. Just because we care. :hug3

I have not had much in the way of suits and stalkers from within the church, but I do know tenants can drive one nuts! I have lost over ten thousand $$ in unpaid rents. of course that does not count the damage they caused to the property.

In the end - I had to tell myself it's just money!!

Getting a judgement against a tenant is the easy part. Collecting after the judgement? Not so easy.

Anyhoo, I will pray for you ILG!

Yeah, that's what I've heard. We've never taken anybody to court for rent before so this is a first. I never really wanted to take anybody to court and we really tried everything before doing this, including sending certified, return receipt requested letters and they never called us about any of it and refused to return our calls.

I used to have the basic Amish belief about not taking anybody to court. When we lost money in the past it was fairly minimal. This time, it seemed wrong not to take them to court for the simple fact that, you know the old saying.....the only thing evil men need to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

Thanks. I feel some better today. Still kinda stressed but not at all like yesterday. Add to all this that we were waiting on a biopsy for my husband and it pushed me over the edge. The dr said it was probably nothing and the biopsy came back noncancerous so that's very good news! Sorry I did not mention that yesterday. I'm sure that must seem backwards but the stress level was so great I was not thinking straight enough to ask for prayer on that front. Often, when things are super stressful, I withdraw and tend not to talk about it at all. When I start talking about all of it and asking for prayer, I am used to the old abuse from church. And, at those high stress points, even when I was a pastor's wife, I would not ask for anything from anybody, because what I usually got was a lecture instead of help. Just sayin'. Thanks for the prayers, yes the real ones from you! I think I only got one small lecture in this whole thread!

Some years ago when talking about rental property a person told some of us that over the years he got about 1/3 of what he was supposed to get.

Sister,

I too will be praying for you for victory. It is a trial from the enemy. But, give God praise and turn the tables and become his enemy and terrify the devil. Be at peace.

Oh goodness! Now I gotta go back and make sure it wasn't me who did that to you! If it was me, I am sooooo sorry. It sure wouldn't have been my intention.

Sooooo glad to hear that your hubby's biopsy came back good. That has to be a huge relief for you.

Hugs!

Nah, it wasn't you, Margies3. ;) Probably the person who did it wouldn't ask the question.
