Gingrich Campaign Implodes - Weiner Celebrates

Newt Gingrich's campaign imploded today with the mass resignation of his campaign manager, senior strategists and other aides. It doesn't mean his campaign is over, far from it. Remember McCain's campaign in early '08 had senior aides and others abandon it, and he went on to capture the nomination.

But it does make Anthony Weiner DC's happiest man for a while a least. With all the attention focused on the Gingrich campaign, Weiner stands to get a couple days release from the attention and press.

Why would that make the Dems happy? I doubt the Republicans would have voted for him anyway.

Because the attention is off of Weiner for a bit. I believe the OP stated that.

For the Gov. Perry fans on here ... Check out the DrudgeReport updates.

If this is true, it may well end Gingrich's campaign. Low poll numbers, plus his manager and others jumping ship to join a Gov. Perry '12 campaign.

*Edit*
From the WSJ Link above...

Quote:

Should he run, Mr. Perry would first have to overcome an organizational hurdle. Assured that he wasn't running, his two top campaign aides, Mr. Carney and former campaign manager Rob Johnson, both signed up with Mr. Gingrich, the former House speaker. Mr. Perry would also have to overcome his oft-expressed distaste for the nation's capital.
Could Mr. Carney and Mr. Johnson's departure from Gingrich's campaign signal that indeed Gov. Perry is putting together a team to start a campaign for President soon?

Interesting...

Well, they can think that, but most people are not that concerned about what Gingrich is doing. I've been on my new sources off and on today and I'm not reading a host of links about it. Just ran over my Twitter account (956 sources) - Weiner, Palin, Clinton, Gingrich. Weiner still dominating. I stopped reading it for a few days because of the jokes. Tired of reading them.

I'll be sick if BO wins by default! There are good men and women who are serving in congress right now who would make good candidates.

hint: LTC. Allen West

Glad Gingrich is gone.

He couldn't win anyway.

Newt tops Barney Frank's homosexual boyfriend's prostituion ring taking place in the home of Barney Frank?

Seascapes, your idea of what "top" scandals consist of is strange.

Newt's situation isn't really a scandal, more of a passing curiosity. It's obvious he's not prepared to nor truly serious about running for President.

As for Weiner, he might have gotten 30 minutes of relief from Newt's campiang revolt, but the Weiner story keeps getting worse and isn't going away until he does.

Apparently there are some more pics that surfaced...in the congressional gym...in various stages of dress.
One of the lessons that has surfaced from all of this; stay out of Queens, 56% of those polled think he should stay in office.
