Open letter to AFF

I am a little upset that OLD PATHS 11 seems to think or at least that is how I understand what he wrote that I am not truthful and someone needs to call me and all the things I get away with on this forum...

I request as a long time member of this forum...since the days of FaithChild if anyone at anytime ever caught me in a lie?

Over the years I have shared our ups and downs, victories and defeats, births and deaths and this forum and many of the members have become friends with me and missions.

We have posted thousands of pictures, our newsletters and shared our life her to help people understand that missionaries are real people...have real passions.

I have shared with you the needs of our people and the mission in general. Both spiritual and natural...told of days of laughter and tears...

Strange how people look at things...Just tonight we had supper with Pastor Robinson from Jayess, Mississippi and he looked over the headquarters church, the projects, and told us how growing up he was always inspired by our visits to his home. (His mother used to fix my hair when I would be in the area)

My life has been and continues to be an open book...

If anyone would like any details names, dates, places of any missionary stores I have ever related I will gladly furnish these things...

I am only human and sure I make millions of mistakes but my whole love is missions...

This is one of Old Paths 11 post..

it was actually a friend of mine actually emailed me a link to this thread. This friend is aware of several of my personal hobbyhorses, which include the ridiculous blaming of the devil for everything that goes wrong in our lives, the ridiculous use of credit cards, the tendency of Christians to rack up tons of debt and then give praise to God for what "He gave them", and last but certainly not least, the fact that Sister Alvear gets away with WAY too much on this forum. No one ever calls her on her stories and someone needs to.

I would like to give a personal invitation to anyone to come visit me, our churches anytime...Some on this forum know me personally and a few that write her or read here have been to Brazil...anyway everyone is invited...my home is open...

I wouldn't sweat it, nobody here takes this guy seriously. He's nothing more than a button pusher. His or her own words make it clear...this was done out of boredom

Quote:

I haven't been around in a while, quite frankly, things have been abundantly boring in the last few months. But once in a while, I peruse and never find anything I want to jump in on.

Until now.
Gotta make you wonder why out of all the threads this person would choose to pick on a missionary to Brazil, doing the work of the Lord

I am more than sure I have offended people (not by intention) however an expression, a thoughtless word or action but I never have lied or intentionally told something untrue... My life is too exciting to have to sit around and think up something to say or write..and many have shared adventures with me that read or write here...including my blood sister that reads the posts...

Personally, I enjoy reading your posts, Sis. I mean, you're pretty transparent, both here and on Facebook. So, perhaps those singling you out must feel some sort of conviction over something you've said or done. Let that be between that person and God and you just keep on keepin' on working for God...

Sister Alvear, This guy is messed up so don't take anything he says as rational. He has the problem - not you!
I tell the young ministers that I teach - Some people were broke when they came to you - You did not break them and YOU cannot fix them.

You did not break this guy - he was broken and messed up when he came on this forum and will be broke and messed up when he leaves it!
People that are always preaching about LIARS - Usually have a major problem with it in their own lives!
People like him disgust me with all their negativity!

God bless you Sister Alvear for all that you do for the Kingdom. Brush this off and keep on keeping on!

well...it is my desire to be a blessing...

Was supposed to go at 9 for bloodwork but Brother Alvear was not feeling well so we are going in the morning early but this after noon we have a heart exam (both of us) and he has a stress test I think it is called and maybe the nurse said they would work me in for one also...
I usually fail those kind of tests...lol....

You have been and always are a blessing. I am praying for both you and Brother Alvear now.

Sister Alvear,

I’m calling you out on one of your stories!

I don’t believe you jumped into the swamp, bare-handed wrestled and caught a 37 foot Anaconda all by yourself.

Things like this make me fighting mad!! And today is NOT the day to cross me. Lol!
The Alvears are true-blue and I can vouch for them because I've been there, and I'm on my way there again right now, if I can ever get out of here. (More on that on another thread).
They live simply and love much! There is nowhere that they wouldn't go to share the gospel. They are heroes of mine, and I can't wait to get there and learn more of the heart of Jesus from them.

Re: Open letter to AFF

Last night Pastor Robinson was with us with Missionary Thompson....last month Pastor Vaulue preached for us with Missionary Thompson...Also Pastor Connor from Az. preached our national minister's conference. Girls from Jackson UPC and an independent just visited our work in June. Girls from Brother Bookers church traveled with us visiting the works, Pastor Holmes, Cox, Hair, and many more have preached for us and never one time have they spoken evil of us...
Pastors from a trinity college where I studied and got a degree from visited us and spoke highly of us even though we differ in doctrine and they are welcome to visit us anytime.
Our home is not only open to people that believe in oneness it is open to all...Catholics, Spiritist and all are welcome to visit us...In fact we were personally involved in helping a precious lady from America get right with God...

My blood sister Sherry visited us and wept at the love of our people and the work here. In fact she sent me a card I will forever cherish about two sisters that chose different roads in life...both succeded but she wrote in her handwriting YOU CHOSE THE BEST...
My precious sister has many of the "best" things in life...we did chose different roads however we are sisters and I deeply love her. We do not see alike on religion and neither do I see alike with my other sister...however we all 3 love God in our own ways.

I do not agree with their choice of churches but respect their opinions...People get hurt and things happen that form our love and often our personalities.
Many people on this forum see things different than I do but that does NOT make them false or me false...After all we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
My precious friend Sherri Cupples is on her way here to spend a few days with us...we are going to cook soup for the hungry and paint a church if the rains stop.
Anybody can come visit me...Like the late Bishop Peters told his church...Sister Janice gave me a bedroom in her home for convention and the bedroom next to mine she gave to the lepers that came...
I love people...I learn from people...and even OP11 is welcome to my home. I even invited Pastor Reckhart! Just need to invite Pastor Steve Winters...ha...
My only enemies are those that don't like me...I take is for some reason OP 11 does not like me along with his friend he mentioned...but even that I really don't know...

Wow. I've been here for a very long time, and I've never read anything less than Christian, ladylike and open/honest from you, Sis. Alvear. God have mercy on the person who would choose you of all people to criticize. Sounds like someone who has way too much time on their hands. :blink

It's easy to be on the bandwagon of someone who has a great reputation. The only idiotic response was the huge deal you made out of someone using a credit card to buy a stove. I and millions others consider that a major necessary appliance. And most of us don't have enough cash laying around to go purchase a stove. I imagine this problem would be magnified in a foreign country. You only continue to make yourself look foolish. You should apologize and go on about your business.

It was an implication, not an outright statement. Perhaps you should have been asked for clarity before it was assumed. I'll give you that much.

So, OPII:

What did you mean by the comment that someone should "call" Sister A on her "stories?"

Well, as far as I am concerned, if Sis. Alvear said it, it must be true. Actually she didn't wrestle that 37 foot snake by herself. The Lord helped her.

Seriously, I would not doubt anything Sis. Alvear says.

This woman has dedicated her whole life to the Gospel. I may not agree with her on every detail of her beliefs (none of us agree 100 percent) but I am confident in her character and believe she is called by God and used by God.

No, YOU should read what I objected to, and it was NOT the use of a credit card. It was the claim that the devil was somehow defeated by the use of a credit card. THAT, Mr. Daniel, was the "Huge deal." Free advice: Sign up at a local community college for a reading comprehension class.

Yes, absolutely. But no one wants to ask, just accuse and judge. I've not spent a lot of time on this forum, but AFF seems to be highly populated with people that greatly enjoy piling on a person that DARES question something that one of the "Old Guard" says. In the little time I've spent here, I've been verbally beaten to death. I pretty much expect it every time I post.

I'm glad to hear you admit that I DID NOT say that Sister Alvear was lying. The others should have a tiny ounce of integrity, call off their judgement dogs, and admit the same.

What did I mean specifically? Pretty much exactly what Mr. Charnock has said. I know this normally gets hushed but here's the flat-out truth. There are a LOT of people that just roll their eyes when Sis. Alvear starts one of her stories of great attacks of demonic forces, how awful they have it on the "mission field" and then chastises us luxurious Americans for not giving more to missions. I'm one of the eye-rollers, only this time, I chose to say something.

Look, stoves break. Goodness, even here in America they break. Why is it that here in America, they go bad, but if it's Sis. Alvear's stove, all the demons of hell have attacked her stove? I think it's a legitimate question, and furthermore, if she then proceeds to say she's going to use a credit card and thereby gain some sort of victory over the devil, I think I should have the right to say, "Hey, wait a minute. Really??"

You all can verbally bash me all you want, call me ugly names, say that you're fighting mad, whatever else you want to say. I'm still going to roll my eyes.

And then, for crying out loud, SHE'S GOING TO CALL HER LAWYER OVER WHAT I POSTED??????? Somebody's just a liiiiiiiiiittle too defensive there and it actually DOES make me start to wonder about the truthfulness of some of the happenings claimed. Sorry, it does. I HAVE NOT ACCUSED HER OF LYING!!! But her reaction? Sorry, there isn't a reasonable person who looks at this objectively who wouldn't raise an eyebrow at her reaction.

I say, "Someone needs to call her on some of these stories" and SHE'S GOING TO CALL HER LAWYER???? Does anyone see a problem with that besides me??

So let me ask you, what did she get away with? What are you accusing her of?

I am out of town on a business trip and now almost wish I had not checked in. If I really posted what I am thinking after reading Old Paths II's posts on this thread and the original one about the stove I would have to ban myself.

What a disgrace to common decency. Even if a person were to think such terrible thoughts about a full time mssionary they should have the decency to keep it to themselves. My question to Old Paths II is did you not have a mother to raise you and teach you to be a decent person? You are incredibly crude, rude and do not display any of the fruit of the spirit that I can see. I don't know if my anger or pity for you is greater. What a miserable person you must be.

Legalism is death, to self and others. I admire the work of the Alvears in the jungles, and I do not question a thing she says on here. My Pastor is a missionary pastor, and the stories he tells mirrors much of what Missionary Alvear says here.

OPII, stop hating, start appreciating, and try praying.

Sister Alvear 07-26-2011 06:13 PM

Re: Open letter to AFF

Ask any missionary in Brazil about devil worship and things like that...I read what the Lambeths write, what other missionaries write, what Brother Thompson writes...we all live in a country that is deeply involved in devil worship.
Here in the northeast poverty is greater than any area of Brazil. I live and work among people that came from devilish feasts and all kinds of things. Several of our pastors used to be witchdoctors.
Whether people believe what I tell is up to them but I know that I am telling the truth.

And I did not say I was taking anyone to law I said I was going to talk to my lawyer and ask him to read what I wrote.
I have no intentions of taking anyone to law but my good friend is a lawyer and much smarter than I am so want to know if something is wrong with how I post...I sincerely believe that the devil has tried many things to attack us. I sincerely believe what happened to my stove was an attack from the enemy. If you think otherwise that is okay with me. I am just glad I know the GOD that is more powerful than the devil or his helpers.

If I am going to accuse someone of something I would at least state my name...anything I have written I write my name to it...Any stories I tell there are people alive that can tell you if they are true stories or not.
Many of my friends have lived some of these stories with me...I have one friend that has been over here over 20 times and is planning to come yet this year...Have friends that have known me the whole 43 years that I have been on the mission field... Please call them and see if I am real...
Call my pastor: Pastor Bryan Taylor 318 339 8628....he has been my pastor all my life...and been to Brazil many times...he should know if I am real... Call Dr John Scheels in Beebe, Arkansas...ask him if I am real...Call Pastor Holmes ask him if I am real...we went to school together so he ought to know...my mother and father were members of his church until their deaths.
Call Pastor Steve Pixler ask him if I am real...have known him for a long time. I could list hundreds of pastors both UC's and Liberals that are my friends.
No one can please everybody. I am sorry that some think I beg...which I do not deny. I do in almost every letter ask for help...money for the soup kitchen, money for the jungle work, money for this or that...how will people know if we do not express the need?

But on the other hand our Brazilian church built a church in the Philippines, bought a couple bikes in Africa, helps every month in Paraguay, sent Bibles to an area of Africa that speak Portuguese, sent clothes to other mission fields and we are supporting mainly from Brazil several outreaches in interior places. So it is not just taking in we are doing our best to teach our people to become self supporting and reach their people.

I am sorry if my letters offend anyone...never would I write to offend people. That is not my personality. I love Brazil, the people and the work. Sorry if I come on to strong I do not mean any harm.

As I said today I DEEPLY appreciate the American people. It is just hard like I said to please...some say tell us about the work, tell us about poverty, tell us about this or that...in telling things some are blessed others take offence.

I am very emdebted that an American pastor paid for us a home, others helped us build a beautiful headquarters church and have put food on our table and the tables of many for the past 43 years...

No, I do not feel super spiritual or better than anyone. In fact I am so tired after spending all afternoon at the hospital but am blessed that a pastor went to teach my Bbilbe class for me. I am just dragging tonight. So tired. However I have never lost the wonder He called me to be a missionary. It seems I would at some point want to return to the states but when am the lowest something happens to renew the love again...
Just this afternoon coming in from the hospital one little boy walked up to me and handed me a flower...This is for you, missionary...Oh, how I love these people...

In fact Sis. Alvear, you really shouldn't read all this mess! Now understand, if it was about me I would read it. (You know, "nosey me!")

I pray God will touch you and your wonderful husband.

Can you cash a bank check from Been Thinkin? I'm planning on sending you an offering to help with your children's traveling expense, to a family members funeral. Don't want to send it in my real name, that would expose who I am and at this point simply want to remain unknown on AFF!
