NAYC'11 Updates
 

First night of NAYC in Columbus was a good night. The worship set was great and Shay Mann brought a great word for young people. Nationwide Arena was about 3/4 full. Great move of The Spirit. Only complaint...not enough food options after service. The pizza's i ordered for my crew took 2.5 hours to arrive. All in all, day one was great.

So far--great. Kristin Keller's group is the.best. as far as music goes. Today's session with Paul Pamer was very good and very inspiring. Last night Jimmy Toney preached about a Generation of Giants. Strictly speaking of content, it was *okay*, BUT it was a great confidence-building service and our kids need that (and we thoroughly enjoyed it, anyway). Shay Mann did a great job Wednesday night, and it was nice to have DKB in the house last night.

Jeff and I have skipped the breakout classes both days and wandered down to North Market to eat breakfast/brunch. (And to stay out of our kids' hair - we don't want to hover.) We don't really fit into the breakout class categories, so no biggie.

I have some clips to upload but I can't upload them till I get home. They're on Jeff's phone.

Tonight's service was off the hook. And I don't even use terminology like that. :P

Never heard of Rashidi Collins before tonight; I'll definitely remember him. The most beautiful thing was when the music stopped and the arena was filled with the sound of thousands of young people praying and speaking in tongues. Wonderful. I loved NAYC 2011. I'll come back again if my kids will tolerate it. ;)

--I really enjoyed The Stairwells. I'm always in the mood for a simple, acoustic sound with clear voices and great harmony.

Rashidi is a friend and a great guy. I'm excited to see what God is doing in and with his life. I'm glad you enjoyed NAYC.

NAYC was the best apostolic youth event we have ever attended!!! The Youth Division of the UPCI keep taking things to a higher level. Loved it!

Good week at NAYC '11. Music was off the chain...for real. Shay Mann preached a good message, Apostolic Apps. Really engaged the kids with his sermon intro and talked about the importance of prayer and praise. Deep worship. Great altar service. Good stuff. Thursday night experience; great worship. 2 of us left when the nights speaker had everyone stand to secure some after service food for the crew (wednesday night was a nightmare food wise). When we stepped onto the elevator, there was obviously a local couple who had brought a guest with them. They were as white as ghost's. The lady they brought with them was in tears (not good tears). I felt for them. She just wanted to get out of there. The "pastoral moment" during the message wasn't necessary. It caused confusion to the "new kids" and guests. Great move of God? Yes. But I wish that there was less usurping of local pastoral authority and more preaching Jesus. Some things need to be taught, not screamed. But crowds can be intoxicating, even for seasoned preachers. He made sure we knew the "Apostolic" church is the greatest church in your city. Didn't go over well with the Catholic or Methodist kid I brought. The last point he preached; you must become the least of these if you want to become the greatest. IMHO-Would have been a great message if he had bypassed the "pastoral moment" and preached the last point. Friday day session by Paul Pamer=Awesome! It was a challenge to the young people, regardless of where they were at in their walk. The new kid was ministered to just as much as the church kid. He's phenom. Friday night - Great worship (broken record lol). Rashidi Collins brought the house. He preached Jesus. Doctrine and all. A little deep for some of my crew at first. But the night ended with a great altar service. The crowd didn't want to leave the arena. All in all. Good trip. I would like to see more of a sensitivity to the new kid who didn't grow up in this. I liked Charlotte for that reason. 6 of my "new kids" received the HG in '07. Huge emphasis on Jesus and outreach, less emphasis on the talking points (Apostolic Identity). Not sure if I would take new kids to Louisville. We'll have to think about that.

what is the name of kristin keller's group? i googled the name and came up blank. there are a couple of rashidi videos on youtube.

I'll loosely agree with you and say that Night 2 wasn't my favorite for some of the same reasons. I don't get into the "our church is better than your church" stuff, nor do I care for "our music/media is just as good if not better than everyone else's" comparisons. :rolleyes2 That said, our overall experience was a positive one. There will be something you don't like at just about every meeting.

Paul Pamer and Rashidi Collins were also my favorites.

They aren't an official *group*; I think they were brought together for NAYC.
