Backing up files is a virtue.

Take them again. If they're old pictures, hire younger models of yourselves for the reenactments. :D

Do you know why it crashed?

If the pics were lost perhaps it was a hard drive failure. If that is the case it may be nearly impossible to recover unless you want to spend a lot of money

Maybe whatever happened messed up indexing and the pics are essentially deleted. If that is the case then don't do anything with the PC

Don't save or install anything. Get a program for recovering and restoring deleted files. You can use these to restore most deleted files. Some will be corrupted though

Oh, the reason for not doing anything on the PC in question is if the pics are deleted you can end up writing over them and they will be lost

I have used a program called Data Rescue PC3 to restore files. It has saved many a teachers files at the school I work at.

Online services are ok, except they are limited by having an internet connection

There are a lot of programs one can use to find deleted files. I never heard of that one but that does not mean it's not good

The best way, other than the online method, is to buy an external hard drive

Also I would go to Mycomputer. Right click your hard drive (Drive C probably), then go down to Properties. Then go to Tools, then click on Error Checking and allow it to run

Allow it to fix errors and note what errors it may have found, fixed or not fixed.

You may need a new hard drive but I would check it first for errors

Do you or have you been hearing any odd noises from the PC lately?

RW knows a lot about the subject so I'd trust this program

Re: Need help regarding pc crash??

If you restore your system to any restore point then the pics can be retrieved but if you restore your laptop to a factory setting then there are less chances to get back all your pics and files due to over written condition but you should try at least once.
Go for Kernel for FAT and NTFS laptop recovery software which is an efficient recovery software for such conditions,
