Very touching! Praying along with this great crowd. God bless this effort today
of prayer, fasting and water. Can you imagine this many people and those not
able to attend but joining with these in this effort! I believe GOD WILL RESPOND to
this day, in Jesus Name! Hoovie, I've "lost it" several times as to the things said and
sung and to the sincere hearts of this gathering. Gov. Perry's words, prayers, etc.

I've been watching for an hour or two. Very interesting. There was a recorded message from the Floridian governor as well. I'm mainly watching because the main worship leaders are from the International House of Prayer.

It's amazing how many thousands turned out for this event, though.

Re: The RESPONSE LIVE IN HOUSTON,TEXAS

Well I was there! Left with a wheelbarrow full of questions.

1) What was Perry trying to achieve? Did he do it?
2) It was a Charismatic Pentecostal style happening and I wonder if that was what Perry was looking for.
3) The Oneness Pentecostal (UPCI) can't possible be pleased and think God was in this gathering? ..... Or can they?
4) The Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc can't be real excited about it. It was Pentecostal, for the most part, through and through!
5) Did the Pentecostal, Charismatic votes overcome those who would have been turned off by the physical worship, jumping, shouting to some extent, and on the floor with faces on the concrete?
6) Maybe Perry truly wasn't looking for votes! Maybe his spiritual concerns were greater than his political needs! I don't know. We will probably find out in the days that lie ahead.
7) I do know this, Rick Perry seemed so very sincere and I give him the benefit of the doubt! His statements and prayer were very forceful! Yet they probably won't receive much acclaim in the political world.

Much of the Master of Ceremonies duties were conducted by Doug Stringer, www.dougstringer.org.

Also, please allow me a moment to complain about the music. I am not saying this just to be critical. But, during some of the prayers you could not hear the speakers for the loud music, (drums and bass guitar, in particular) playing too loud in the background. And I'm not a fan of contemporary music, but todays was the worst. I've never heard so many songs with 5 or 6 words, repeated over and over and over and over and over and over.... oh, sorry I got carried away!

Another thing that I thought was unusual, was as I was going in, there was an airplane over head, pulling a banner that said something like this... "Gov. We don't want the church mixed with politics!"

So that's kinda how I saw it. Maybe this is the beginning of something wonderful, but for this forum, how can that be when these folks are not "Apostolic?"

Who knows, and at least someone in politics is trying to do something that could benefit our nation. As for the plane, are Governor's not allowed freedom of religion? The music, sometimes happens like that in big gatherings.

And please believe me I am not judging whether God heard this today with approval or not! I'm just saying that some of the arguments that have gone on on AFF would almost prohibit some making those arguments from approving The Response!

I would be interested in some of the UC's response!

Please don't take my previous post as totally negative. I have mixed emotions about what I saw and experienced.

We need a new president and many are saying Rick Perry is gonna run! I just wonder if he gained votes today or lost more than he gained?

I guess I also question in my mind as to what degree this meeting was "Spiritual" or "Political!" And I guess what I really would like to know is how Gov. Perry would define that issue.

What a time we live in! Is Rick Perry our answer for the times? I guess we'll see!

BT, I don't think there is anybody that can change our country but God. Once elected they all seem to have the same problems, because they can't agree on anything. So one man can't change anything, President or not. I guess we will have to wait to see if Perry is going to run to find out if he is our answer.

I agree. But, this is a unique approach that Perry is undertaking! Will it work? Only God knows. Is God pleased with it? Only God knows! I can't remember anyone else starting, (if he is) his campaign with a day of prayer!

So much is happening it's hard to keep up with it all!

What will Wall Street do Monday? Will we enter a greater depression than we have known before? Only God knows!

Also was abortion mentioned? How about gay? No need of acting like we are repenting if we dont name specific sins.

A couple of the children that prayed, prayed concerning abortion. And I didn't stay for all of it so don't know if anyone else mentioned it. Do not recall homosexuality being mentioned! May have been later.

Yes. I think Edwards was there... ALOT of talk about abortion. I did not watch the whole thing in its entirety, but I did not hear about homosexuality - at least not by that name.

Yup. "Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins, and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion, and send revival to America" was repeated multiple times throughout.

His intentions:

Quote:

Employing deeply religious language that national experts say affords both power and peril for his political career, Gov. Rick Perry in late May told a group of East Texas business leaders that he was "called to the ministry" at age 27, suggested that the governor's office was his pulpit and that God put him "in this place at this time to do his will."

yes Misty was there and sang 2 or 3 songs, Bickle spoke for about 10 minutes, John Hagee spoke. Most was prayer and worship. "bullet prayers" from audience members like they do in ihop prayer room. Here is a youtube of Perry's comments. 12 minutes.

It's funny NOT that the media had a fit about him holding this prayer rally because it may offend non Christians, yet they think nothing of holding a gay rally that would offend a Christian. According to the media don't offend anyone but Christians.

We don't care what satan allows, we're

A friend of mine went. I asked her how many people she thought as there since the media said 30,000 and I have known them to undercount other conservative venues. She said she guess there was at least 70,000 there. Don't know how many the Reliant even holds.

She said it was awesome!

Those are all Baptists words..When the congregation begins to nod off, all the preacher has to say is one of those words to wake them up..and if that don't do it then the words liberal will bring em to their feet.. :laffatu

since Pentecostal experience 34 years ago ..the words Holy Ghost; light me up; or Jesus, or the Word of God..or the spirit of wisdom or counsel and might, or power in Jesus' name..

But those Baptist words sicken me....

I've heard this once and many times I say it to myself; "My people don't worship me enough"
A certain preacher came to our church and said that Jesus told him that.

That was in the early 80's when Lakewood Church was still small..

it's not the gay thing , it's not the liberal media, it's not prayer in schools , it's not the abortion issues ...

it's the light of the body...the eye. if thine eye be single thy body shall be full of light..

well, we now have 200+ channels of TV ..We have the invasion of Football on Sunday's and many many other things which divide..

when our eyes should be on Jesus were watching a million different other things which delute Spiritual strength..

and the worst thing of all ...

Americans think the whole world revolves around us..:smack:heeheehee

The single eye contrasted with the evil eye has nothing to do with TV. In the O.T. the "evil eye" is greed, a covetous eye.

could it be that Christians shouldn't be offended.. ...

I mean put yourself in the shoes of unbelievers of today for a moment.
There's plenty of history of the past in Christianity to make a person who knows not God to question....

They have no perception of God...and whenever Christians come out and come off as , well, you know, intolerant of others simply because "we" believe in God; as though you expect them to observe your piety....I mean ,

This is America..the first place in the World where people decide for themselves...how to live their lives.....
and I respect them that stand up to all the bullying from so called Christians..in our society where divorce is close to 50% among Christians of today if not adultery.and alcohol consumption is 47 billion among an supposed to be 80% Christian population...

What I'm trying to say is our credibility is shot..and to get it back we have to win it back and to do that we have to earn it...by doing what is written ourselves...that they may see our good works an glorify our Father which is in heaven...
