Re: CLC Austin
RJ has done a great job in South Austin. He has a lot of friends and relatives outside of the UPC but also has a lot in it.
My understanding is that he is showing up at more Global and maybe other events. Don't know if he will actually make a move to leave the UPC or is waiting for them to push him out. If DB's letters through the various District Superintendants calling for pastors to toe preaching the standards line and that if they are unwilling to do so they should leave becomes enforced I believe he would leave. |

Most churches and pastors don't want their local district to have the control and power over them that being officially a UPC church means. |
Re: CLC Austin
Today RJ's church, Christian Life Church, in Austin, Texas baptized 69 people!

Re: CLC Austin
naw. that was in tulsa

Re: CLC Austin
Yeah, "hair cutting parties" and all of that fun, too. I hear Rex wears a pinky ring now and that he plays with it, twisting it around his finger, while he's preaching so that everyone will look at it and say, "Hey! A Pinky Ring!"

Re: CLC Austin
As I recall the pastor who was accused of that denied on the forum that it ever happened. Could be one of those Pentecostal urban myths.

Now you've gone too far. "Trumpetpraise" happens to be a friend of mine. He also is not nor was he ever pastoring. He attends a rather "conservative" church and hold many views that might be construed as even more "conservative" than that. His father (who also posts here from time-to-time) is a well known and well respected evangelist who preaches mostly in the "WPF-style" churches. Get your lies right. There was NO HAIR CUTTING PARTY IN TULSA. Trumpetpraise doesn't even live in Oklahoma nor did he ever pastor. |

... these types of things used to be standard fare here on AFF. One particular former admin used to post a lot of these stories from his day preaching out in other churches and the "backsliding" he claims to have seen. That's where I got the "Pinky Ring" reference. I believe he was the source for the "hair cutting party" as well. When someone finally stood up to the guy on one of his claims (he claimed that a neighboring UPC pastor allowed 'social drinking' and fornication among those on his platform) the guy freaked. In fact, all of AFF freaked. I actually got an Infraction for the following post - notice the small yellow box on the bottom right hand side. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...609#post372609 The end result was that the talebearer banned himself and then bailed out of AFF. But, that was the way this place was formerly run. Fabricated stories and lies like the one Houston has just shared about "hair cutting parties" were the norm. |

Pelathias, I remember that thread, and the statements and events leading up to the controversy.
The truth is, the previous owner of this forum that you were contending with slandered and misled others on a couple of occasions. And every time his tactics were exposed his posse would show up to say he was misunderstood or misquoted. Fact: He lied about Triumphant1's church, saying they had a hair cutting party on the platform. Even when proven wrong he never apologized. Fact: He participated in misleading this board as to the WPF's intentions. Many of us knew before the Tampa GC that a new org would be formed. We had first hand knowledge. When we posted it he and his buddies went postal saying that there would never be a new org, and that Coon and Godair had stated as much. Several of us received infractions for being disrespectful to those honorable men. A couple of months later the WPF was formed. Godair and Coon were organizers. When I reminded The Dean of his statements, he denied making them. I lost my cool and called him a liar, and was banned. This behavior was typical among some of the previous admins. |

One of their favorite tactics was to post a picture of a liberal preacher's wife just too show how Charismatic he had become after leaving standards. They really trashed Suber's wife. They also revelled in the failures of other lib ministers. However, when one of their own fell a few months ago they silenced any mention of his adulterous behavior out of " respect for his family." Pathetic. |
