For those who have not seen the debate...

When asked which contender on stage might be his presidential VP pick, Perry said,

"I don't know how you would do this, but if you could take Herman Cain and mate him up with Newt Gingrich, I think you would have a couple of really interesting guys to work with."

Talk about a strawberry for old perry, he kinda missed it on that attempt at humor. Course, GWB was always flubbing it in comedy so don't write old perry out yet.

The "mate him up" phrase gave people bad visuals. Of course, the pure in heart were thinking of a petri dish and lab. :D

Actually, when the comments were made, as I was watching the debate, my mind processed "combined" and I didn't even catch the "mated" term.

I wasn't aware of it until Hoove posted it here and went to verify the statement. The articles I read didn't make a big deal out of it. It appears they were taking the term to be "combined" as well.

While I understood the statement as you did, it could also mean "running mate" - though why would you want two vice-presidents? ;)

Seriously, if you could actually combine the two, the one guy would make an exceptional VP. And it showed that Perry knew the type of solid strengths which are important. It also shows they they have talked privately as Gingrich wants the Secretary of State position and Cain is wanting support for the Georgia Senate. ;)

I agree race mixing is wrong and a sin. But I believe God put the first Mixed race president in the White house for a reason.Looks like the mixed race people with two different race parents are going to be the majority in America.
