Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
I'm just about to order my sausage and mushroom pizza for tonight's debate on bloomberg. I believe coverage starts at 7pm eastern. who is watching? any predictions?

Re: Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
I will be watching. I like Rick Perry, Bachman, Cain in that order. The Lords will be done.

Romney was impressive.

Its getting quite interesting, I'll admit. The chance of Cain being the nominee is growing rapidly. New poll in South Carolina has him in the lead over Romney.

Re: Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
I'm starting to lean towards Cain.
Bachman just has puns and sarcastic quotes. Her turning Cains 999 into a 666 joke was childish. She has no depth. I thought I was for Perry but falls into the punch lines thrown at him instead of stating what he is for and what he will do. Romney just makes me cringe. Typical "slick willy" politician. Our economy needs a Cain. |
Re: Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
Romney and Cain are at the top of the heap. Romney got a big boost from Chris Christie when the NJ governor gave him his endorsement prior to the debate. Romeny would be wise should he get the nod to invite Cain as a VP candidate or Christie in that order. Gingrich is the smartest guy in the room and I think would make a great president but he doesn't have a chance. Too many Americans vote on perception, image and how someone makes them feel. Gingrich doesn't have that charisma and charm Americans are so in love with. Santorum is dead on when he gets a chance to speak but he doesn't have a chance either. Ultimately any one of these folks will lead our nation far better than the current president. I believe Romney will win the nomination and that either Cain, Christie or Marco Rubio should be his running mate.
The only chance I believe Obama has left to win is to drop Biden and ask Hillary to be his VP. If Americans can be convinced that the WH with the help of the Clintons can turn this thing around BO might squeak out a victory. Maybe even have Bill become Secy of State. That would be a long shot. I don't think there's a lot of love between BO and BC. |

Rangers game and NCIS were much more important to me.

Someone could run as an Independent and draw away just enough votes for the Dems to keep control.

Re: Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
Of course the media will not like Cains plan. With 47% of the population already paying no income taxes and most of them actually getting BACK tax rebates (go figure), ANY sort of flat tax will result in cries of protest about the "working poor" being hurt. In reality it is the four guys who are drinking beer for free who are blaming the top earner who is paying for 70% of the bar tab that they are being unjustly punished.

I dont care if we go to Fair Tax (national sales tax) or if we keep some fixed version of an income tax. What I do very much care about and stongly oppose is getting a VAT (sales tax) BEFORE we get rid of the income tax. Congress only gets 1! and I wont be happy if we end up with both. |
Re: Bloomberg Debate Tonight!
Personally I think the Fair Tax is the best.
It is a sales tax with a Pre-bate built in. Everyone in the country gets the equivalent of the Tax rate, times the first 30K of income (or what ever they set as the minimum.) So if the tax rate is 10%, everyone gets a check at the start of the year of $3K. Then if you are in that low income bracket, you effectively pay no taxes. and if you make more/spend more, you are only taxed on what you do spend. |
