Doctrine and Holiness Conference

Just got home last evening from the Doctrine & Holiness Conference in Wichita. I wish everyone on this forum had been there to see what old time Pentecost is all about. The preaching was wonderful and such a mighty move of the Holy Ghost. Large crowd for this type of meeting.
The music and singing were second to none. The worship was through the roof.
This old preacher came home refreshed and blessed.

If it had been in Joplin I might have dropped in as an observer? I did go to an AWCF meeting years ago never made it to another. I went to a Spirit & Word Conference one service at Christ Church years ago. It was interesting.:icecream
I remember going to an IMA meeting years ago which would be the forerunner to Global.

Doctor Pugh you would have absolutely loved that jamming music I never have heard any better(and you know those I have heard). The worship was wild better than half were black so that says alot. I neve heard faith preached any higher or stronger and the healing service was out the roof. Folks laying all over the floor. Miracles and healings. All I can say is WOW.
There might have been some preaching that might not have been your cup of tea BUT yes you woud have enjoyed this service.:thumbsup

I went to an AMF Conference in Pensacola once and was told to go put on a long sleeve shirt and to get rid of my worldly sunglasses! Those guys were pretty rough!

Let me know the next time they have this type of meeting. You know I do not mind hard preaching - I did some of it in my prime! LOL

The majority of the preaching was 'faith oriented' however as in any Apostolic meeting there was some holiness preaching but that was not the theme. I never heard the blood-faith-healing-miracles-revival preached any stronger. It was WOW.

Where was it and what was the name of the group that did the conference? As you know, it is so hard to find a balanced meeting. It is either all one thing or another. It is rare in Apostolic ranks to hear good Faith, healing, deliverance preached and see a powerful demonstration of the miraculous.
That sounds like a great meeting and honestly, I do not mind holiness preaching as long as it just don't get to crazy! LOL
I went to a PSR Conference years ago in California. They said it meant Progress, Strength & Renewal and it was NONE OF THE THREE! They preached against over head projectors, listening to the radio, the way guys part their hair, hair gel and hair spray for guys and a bunch of other things. I think they tried to outdo one another with what they preached against!
They had an entire invalid section with lots of wheel chairs, canes, braces and crutches. Not ONE message of FAITH. Not ONE altar call for repentance. not ONE prayer for the sick and suffering - but we sure got to hear about how ungodly baseball and listening to the radio is!

I love Pentecostal history the whole spectrum. I have been to many PAW meetings-PCAF meetings-COOLJC meetings and all other flavors from the most liberal to the ultra con. You name it I have heard it. Been an interesting journey.

He has such an incredible history and story. I really do believe he could help a lot of people and especially young people that get caught up with all the hype of the TBN and Charismatic Celebrities.

His father was the famous Pastor David Epley who held major meetings across the USA and was on TV & Radio across the nation.
He was raised in Pastor Jimmy Russel's church in Madisonville, KY which Pastor Russel has a great FAITH legacy of his own.
He has been around everything and everybody from the Branamites to the PAW to the AMF to the UPC and has seen it all!
I so wish he would write a book about it all! I know I would buy it!

I think each had a theme. I remember going to a "The Church of Jesus Christ" meeting I was a stranger so they decided I need the truth about the name had to be over the door. It was hard to keep a straight face their scriptural gymnastics would impressed the world greatest contortionist. Twas fun.
Been to snake-handling meetings in the mountains of Tennessee I understood what Jesus meant when He said WATCH and pray.:thumbsup
Been to calling out meetings where the guy had to miss 9 out 10. Oil dripping & blood appearing meetings. I been to Momma Hicks meetings and heard her make the most simple passage so complicated I think it even confused her.
Some were so DEAD a trip to the local funeral home would have had more life.
I was a meeting once where the folks were very dignified looking and the next thing I know they are in circles spitting into kleenexs then spraying lysol and placing them into garbage bags.. This was a fairly large meeting I was more than interested but after an hour of it I decided to leave. A usher followed me out and I asked him what are they doing he said releasing evil spirits out of their lives. I asked do yall think that spit are demons he said no that is where they nest.:heeheehee I asked what happens to the bags? He looked confused but answered I guess we put them in the trash. I said boy that worries me think of all them demons nesting in the dump. He looked concerned I left.:happydance

Re: Doctrine and Holiness Conference

Because some have used "holiness preaching" as a way to boost their ego and be abrasive in the past, does not take anything away from a message of true Holy Ghost conviction. And yes, lines have to be drawn. To me, if a preacher refuses to draw clear lines and stand against what needs to be stood against, it shows a lack of prayer and knowledge of the mind and will of God. To make absurd lines that are only destructive to saints instead of protective, it reveals the same.

She baptizes in Jesus Name and her concept on the Godhead changes ever so often? She has a large following (Christ Gospel Church).

When I was a boy the "latter rain" came through our country and yes there were 'oil dripping' services.

Hey Friend, Sounds like we have been to a lot of the same places! I was at the Holiness Church of God in Jesus Name in Newport, TN where they handled Rattlesnakes and copperheads and drank strychnine and handled fire. Liston Pack was the pastor and got bit and died then his brother Buford pastored it and he got bit and died. I decided that the signs following and handling was not for this Mississippi boy! ;-) Also been in the oil dripping, gold dust and jewel appearing services. I just could not get a grip on the gold enough to get it to the jewelers to get any money out of it - then the Gold Dust preachers died and well - it all just died with them I guess or Hobby Lobby ran out of Gold dust!

Did you learn something new about doctrine and Holiness or was this merely about reinforcing those beliefs in the weak minded?

"Momma Hicks" Church is the hardest shouting Church I was ever in. The prayers are also very fervent. At least back when I visited in 1978!

Bro. Epley I was wondering if you remembered the "Never Die" Church in Calhoun, KY?

Oh, and just a little bit of history here....I played the piano at your grandmother's funeral I believe. Rev. Richard Sisk was my Pastor at the time. It's been many years ago, but, I believe it was in Nortonville, KY at the Trinity Gospel Tabernacle?

Yes I do a Lady pastored that church I think her name was Clark? Yes Richard Sisk did preach my Grandmother's funeral he had been a friend of the family as long as I can remember. My thank you is late but thanks. The Nortonville church was really our family church. My Dad pastored there for a short time.

I don't remember the Lady's name, but, the quartet from our church used to sing there from time to time. The building is still there, but, oddly enough.....all the members are....well....dead.

You are very welcome, but, no thanks necessary. Just a bit of "trivia" I thought you might be interested in. I remember when your dad pastored there. Shall I say...."several" years ago?

Yes. It was a powerful healing service during the day after Elder Groce got through teaching then Elder Burgess preached and the Hoy Ghost fell mightily.

Oil dripping, snakes, poison drinking, spiting demon nests? Ok I'm not impressed nor intrigued. Just simply not interested - though sad for those caught in these doctrinal snares.
