Oh Lord, help them.....
.....to realize that at some point you have to stop!
Duggers expecting their 20th http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...aby-number-20/ Honestly, they are expecting their 20th... and probably had sex 20 times. |
Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
oh good grief.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
wow....
|
Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
Basically they are going to keep going until the health issues become SO severe that at least three in a row will be severely handicapped or stillborn, and then they STILL won't stop citing their belief that only God is in control (instead of Jim Bob keeping it in his pants).

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
Have they run out of "J" names yet?
|
Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
They seem to be able to take care of them all fairly well. All the children seem to be fairly well-adjusted. Not sure what the problem is.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
but, really, if they want that many children and are capable of caring for their needs, I don't see a problem. :) As long as they are not abusing medicaid and welfare and food stamps and such.....let them have as many as they want.
If I were her husband though, I'd be very concerned for my wife's health in having her body go through all that so often. I know a family that has 8 children and and her doctor advised her and her husband that they should stop for her health's sake. They did, but I believe they are thinking of adoption now. :) |

The last baby (if memory serves) spent a good deal of time in the NICU. That would be a red flag to me. |

Yep, that will wear her body out. And then their children will be left to raise their siblings.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
Birth control is a subject I've never really heard talked about by OPs. Years ago, the church I attended preached believing God for healing and going to a doctor was somewhat frowned upon. I knew women who had their babies at home and not at a hospital.
There were people who died because of their conviction against seeing a doctor; people who might be alive today. You don't typically see OPs having the 6-8 children that people used to have before birth control became a common practice though, so I'm assuming it's commonly accepted now. I don't think there is anything wrong with having a large family though. |
Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
These people are doing nothing wrong at all. This is the normal way God has made concerning reproduction. No one ever had birth control pills until the sixties. Matter of fact birth contol pills created the sexual revolution that turned practically all Americans to whoredoms.

Having (unprotected) sex usually results in babies. It is a consequence of an action without another action being taken to prevent the first action. So why is it that many think that somehow not allowed to have control over this area? |
Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
You shouldn't have babies younger than your grandchildren. Good grief.

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
This couple has decided to let God control the womb (Gen. 1:28) and have more than the average 1.5 children. Whether or not we agree with that conviction, can we at least respect it? The fact that so many people are going ballistic about the size of the Duggars' family proves that we are a product of our generation.
As Michael stated, birth control didn't even exist until the last century. Big families were normal. Also, for practical reasons, I hope that more people are starting to have bigger families because the world population is aging faster than at any other point in human history. Not to be a prophet of doom, but people are living much longer, and there are not enough younger people to care for the older generation. At some point in the near future, there will be a demographic crisis. This is well documented by sociologists and economists worldwide. For example: http://www.demographicwinter.com/index.html |

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
Hey, if more people who were conservative did this, then inside of a generation we would be able to keep power for 50 years. j/k
I think that one would eventually ask God to close the womb, but apparently they have decided that they want to fulfill the command in Scripture. I wish them the best. (I have not and will not watch the show, but I have heard about it on the Christian radio stations.) |

Re: Oh Lord, help them.....
I find myself more intrigued each time I hear about this family, intrigued in a good way. They firmly believe in family and that children are literally a gift from God. I've caught a few glimpses of them on TV over the past few years. I'll probably watch it if I seem them on again...
Hearing about this family is quite different than hearing about Nadya Suleman, aka Octomom, from California. The difference between a mom on welfare with too many kids raising them on her own (presumably) vs. Mr. Duggar being commerical real estate investor and Ms. Duggar a licensed real estate agent raising too many kids together. "Too many" is simply a matter of opinion, though, where the difference is how responsible the parent(s) have been/are/will be. I haven't seen anything about the Duggar children on welfare/food stamps, whereas Ms. Suleman and her children are (or were at last check). I believe the Duggar children (of appropriate age) are homeschooled as well... I did find this bit of info on the Duggars. It's pretty self-explanitory: http://www.duggarfamily.com/content/home |

Every child they have brings more money their way! It's a TV show guys. So in some ways I see self-centeredness....the parents definitely have issues.

I am sure the money from the television series helps, but they were able to provide for their family just fine long before the series. |

The Duggars could survive well on their own whether they were featured on TV or not. I think their exposure is good for a change... |
