O Holy Night, Third Day.
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining. Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine, the night when Christ was born; O night, O Holy Night , O night divine! O night, O Holy Night , O night divine! Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming, Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land. The King of kings lay thus lowly manger; In all our trials born to be our friends. He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger, Behold your King! Before him lowly bend! Behold your King! Before him lowly bend! Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother. And in his name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, With all our hearts we praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we, His power and glory ever more proclaim! His power and glory ever more proclaim! |

Re: Favorite Christmas Song/Artist
There are several versions of this song... Ella Fitzgerald, Julie Andrews, Marie Osmond, but Bing Crosby does it best, IMHO...

Re: Favorite Christmas Song/Artist
I have always enjoyed listening to 'O Holy Night', 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' (when it is done correctly with all verses), 'We Three Kings', 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing', 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', to name just a few of them.
Perhaps the ones that I do not like most are the ones that talk about snow. Having spent enough of my life in places where 32 degrees or less was about as it generally got in the winter (the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex), I have a very strong aversion to anything cold, white, and slushy. For everyone else who loves it, I love you guys anyway. :D |

I can certainly understand where you come from on that. I don't care for the ice, but give me all the snow and I'll be like a kid in a candy store. Earlier this year, as well as last year about the same time, we saw two different storm systems dump considerable snow. 2010 gave us anywhere from 10"-12" depending on where one lived, which beat the snow storm of '78 (before my time). Earlier this year, I believe we saw 6"-8". For me, the Christmas season, as we know it, would be perfect if we ever saw snow on or about the day of Christmas... |

We lived in the DFW area from about 1986-1993, if my memory serves correctly. My father pastored a church in Burleson, and when we left, a man from Bro. Tom Foster's church took it. Last I checked, Bro. Foster has since acquired it as a daughter work. Bro. Foster sent some of his young men to hold our church a revival and later preached a revival for my Dad. He did all of that and told my Dad that God told him to not charge my father at all. My family has always had quite a bit of respect for Bro. Foster since that time. I do not know if we were acquainted with him prior.

Re: Favorite Christmas Song/Artist
When we are discussing Christmas, not hearing about a single white flake will make me happy. I'm dreaming of a green Chistmas, just like those Al Gore fears. Where all toes are warm, and cold never produces tears.
Bad I know, but those are my feelings. Frosty is nice, as long as he and I are far apart. |
Re: Favorite Christmas Song/Artist
As I said though, I do love all of you who dream of strangely frozen drops of water that stack up far worse than rain. I enjoy driving without worrying about sliding of the road. :D

He might be talking about DQ blizzards, which would be all right then. The same could also be said of cones filled with misnamed frozen precipitation.

Back to the topic at hand, I enjoy the Christmas music of Manheim Steamroller. I bought myself a couple of their cds this year, and may buy a couple more. |
