Revival in Middle School

The Middle School in a nearby town let our youth band and youth pastor come and minister this morning to FCA. There were over 200 kids there, and 44 gave their lives to the Lord today!! I'm so excited that a public school allowed this!

Just a question.

How does one give their life to the Lord?

I guess this was directed at Sherri, but here are a few thoughts of mine:

Acts 20
20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

I would say "giving your life to the Lord" means repentance TOWARD God and then putting your FAITH in the person of Jesus Christ.

Every other thing (water baptism, communion, Holy Ghost baptism, etc) stems from one putting their faith in Jesus Christ. So, if a person is "giving their life to the Lord", then such a person is declaring Jesus as their Lord, ergo believing in the Lord Jesus.
The person is saying "Lord, be the director of my life and no longer me"

1 Peter 4
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. (I would say this is giving your life to the Lord)
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

Thanks.

But, yes, you are correct. I was really wondering what the kids did at the school to give their lives to the Lord.

I'm not condemning anyone. I'm just curious.

This is great! Do you expect the school admin to receive any backlash?

How does one give their life to the Lord?

"surrender" to Him
or
"dedicate" to Him
or
"consecrate" to Him
or
"submit" to Him
or
"open up" to Him
or
"yield" to Him
or
"turn from sin and turn" to Him
or
"accept" Him as Lord and Savior

There may be other expressions which could be used.....

All it takes is for one kid from one liberal family to tell his parents and that school is going to have the ACLU all over it.

Alrighty then.

It appears that a "nevermind" is in order.

Re: Revival in Middle School

You never know how God is dealing with people, even kids.

My first encounter with God happened in kindergarten.
I missed the bus and my Mom was yelling at me, cause she needed me to be in Kindergarten so she could go to her job.
she threw me in the car and said, "now tell me how to get to your school."
I had no idea and was scared so I prayed and asked God to show me.
and then I just started saying whatever came to my mind for directions and we ended up at my school.

I know for a fact it was God who helped me.

That first experience showed me that God was real and enabled me to respond to him when I heard the gospel.

Maybe it will be the first step towards toward salvation.

DFT is asking how the "giving your life to the Lord" is signified, hence the ability to get a head count.

Is it speaking in tongues, running, shockamoo or raising yer right hand and wiggling a pinky???

Exactly.

It has turned out to be far more difficult than I would have expected. :)

Duh.....repentance; turning from their old way to the way of the Lord. I have no idea if he had them raise their hands or come to the front or what. I wasn't there. But at least it's a start. Who knows where God will lead these kids? They said the power of God was really strong in the place.

It was voluntary and put on by Fellowship of Christian Athletes, so it's totally kosher, I guess. The principal ok'd it.

Is this in reference to a negative fashion that some people never cease to amaze?
