myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??

Re: myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??
I hear him. I think we do need to teach right living - clearly and explicitly. I do think this is often missing in modern day Christianity.
Yet, the overarching message cannot be that we somehow qualify for salvation. I think the teacher goes overboard in an attempt to correct an imbalance... But I just listened to the first ten min. |
People don't know the difference between propitiation, justification, and sanctification.

Re: myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??
The video is some of the most excellent teaching available on the internet. The doctrine of "imputed righteousness" has like he said been greatly distorted. Matter of fact Im sure that Jude had this in mind when he mentioned "turning the grace of God into lewdness".
Most Christians today have never heard the truth about holiness. It sounds strange when they hear it because they are taught aggressively that God does not see their sin he only sees the blood of Christ. The fear of God is very rarely taught and "be perfect as the Father in Heaven" is always dismissed with the "Greek". Jesse teaches repentance all over America on the streets and campuses. I cant remember his other beliefs but on this topic hes nailed it. |
Imputed righteousness is a necessity to stand before a HOLY God. Nothing we can do can make us Holy enough. We are positionally sinless in Christ. But people think it stops there. While our position is sinless in Christ...it's purpose is that we must change our condition bringing our condition into harmony with our position. This is called sanctification. It's like discovering that you're royalty and being whisked away to the palace and given royal robes. Positionally, you're royalty. But your condition isn't. You still chew with your mouth open, gulp your drinks, pick your nose, and burp at the dinner table. Now you must learn the proper manners and customs of royalty.

Re: myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??
The Apostle Paul said the law of Moses was fulfilled by making out of two men one new man. That is the power of the gospel and salvation. That is what the law could not do in itself, so, what makes you think it can now if it could not then??
Another thing the law of commandments could not do, was to address every imperfection of mankind. So the law in itself was again imperfect. The only thing it did was convince us and others of how imperfect we really are, and it caused us to come into condemnation which is the same spirit of identity that church preachers use today to bring their congregations into obedience by fear and condemnation. That's why you see the same people down at the altar every Sunday, which is another ideology of mans thinking, and a practice of Roman Catholicism in thinking there is power at the front of a building because that is where the preacher stands and that is suppose to be somthing like what Abraham did in the wilderness in erecting an altar unto the living God. Holiness is the act of the Lord Jesus in the person of the Holy Ghost in transforming us spiritually and setting us apart from the sinful nature which we once had and giving us a new nature, which also sets us apart from the world. A nature, that is fashioned after Him. He then comes into that spiritual nature and gives us the power to become the sons of God not by our strength but by His spiritual presents. If I have live by a bunch of rules to make it to heaven I'm not going to make it, and neither are you no matter how much you may have others fooled. Holiness is who you and what you are, not what your trying to become. The true doctrine of sanctification is the Holy Ghost bring into subject both body and soul, and mind, to the nature of Jesus that we might fulfill the scriptures and do His will in us and that we might live in the power and revelation of His spirit. That's what sanctification of the human will is about, not salvation. Jesus saved my spirit from eternal damnation because it was under the curse. he did not save my body, he is only trying to bring it into subject to his will. |

I see an exteme in believing in the imputed righteousness of Christ that denies the need for sanctification. I also see an extreme of denying the imputation of the rightoeusness of Christ that bases our salvation upon our works. The imputation of Christ's righteousness initially makes us holy before God that we might receive the Holy Ghost. This is justification. Because without it... no man would be worthy. At this point a man is "positionally" declared righteous and holy on account of Christ's own righteousness. However, sanctification addresses our "condition" and is our surrendering to the Spirit that Christ might be formed in us. Failure to sanctify one's self is akin to one being freely declared royalty without any merit in his own self... and refusing to learn the ways of royalty to the point of ultimately being disowned by the royal family. This video is missing this balance. |

Very good teaching from a well spoken young man. He was however too long and I couldn't watch till the end so I hope nothing that was just great popped up then.

Re: myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??
If you have been reconciled by His death, how much more shall you be "saved" by His life. Understand this scriptural quote, and the issue of "imputation" is not an issue.
Faith comes first, everything else follows, we had the testimony of a young lady Sunday morning that was raised in our church. She went to college and fell into partying, drinking and finally hooked on drugs. She knew about God, she had been reconciled to God, but had never entered into His life. After hitting bottom, she cried out to Him, and in a very short while heard Him calling her name over and over again. After realizing that He had been calling her name for five years and that she had just now "heard" His voice, she was immediately overwhelmed by His love. After this "encounter" with Jesus, she at that moment was "saved" by His life. She was, her words, "made whole", and as of Sunday morning was three months removed from all her addictions. It is quite amazing, she doesn't speak as a programed Christian, she speaks with such clarity and depth, that was completely missing in her person prior to this encounter with Jesus. She is the daughter of friends of ours, she was absolutely "lost" and she has been "found", and she knows it. Marvelous, incredible, beautiful, complete change, she hated Christians and the church one moment and the next she is in love with the head of the Church. I am still in awe, of His wonderful saving life, we too often forget how great life in Christ really is!!! My life in Christ, like most Christians, was not instantaneous, but was a process of years of seeking and pursuing God, however, it has become just as beautiful. We sometimes forget how "how much more" life in Christ is, because it came on us slowly and progressively. But taking in the whole, my life is just as dramatic and beautiful in Him. Though many are "lost" He has never stopped calling their names, and He never will, for He came to "seek and to SAVE, the lost..." |
Re: myth of imputed righteousness of Christ??
I teach salvation by grace and grace alone, but the grace of God teaches one to live upright. The Holy Spirit will conform us to the image of Christ.
