And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Re: Who Brought You To Jesus?

When I was 5 years old we moved to our town. Soon after we arrived, Rev. Vincent Rupp, the pastor of the Swanton Missionary Church came to visit us and invite us to church. My parents were not church goers at the time. But Rev. Rupp offered to come and pick me up whenever I wanted to go to Sunday School and church. I went the first Sunday and was hooked! I LOVED it. So every week from the time I was 5 until I was 13, when he finally retired, that sweet man - who cared about the soul of a little girl - showed up faithfully to pick me up on Sunday mornings.

At the Missionary Church, we had a lady named Grace Hill. Grace had never been married and never had children of her own. But she loved the kids of the church passionately. She taught our SS classes, led our Jr Church and took us on field trips to see some amazing things. Her doors at her home were always open to the kids of the church. She ALWAYS had time for us.

Because of the teaching I received from these two fine people and others like them, I came to know the Lord at an early age. At one point, after reading a book where the author suggested that if someone had had a big impact on your life, you should write them a letter and let them know that, I chose to do that for Grace. I wrote her a note and let her know that it was because of seeing Christ in her that I am a Christian today. A couple of years after I sent the letter, I saw Grace at a function. She was in her 80's by then, but she RACED across the room as soon as she saw me. She hugged me and cried and said to me that she had always wondered if her life had ever meant anything. And that my letter had let her know that God really had been able to use her. And that the letter meant soooo much to her that she kept it in her top dresser drawer and took it out to re-read often. When she died, they found that letter in her drawer, tattered and well-worn.

Sorry about the length of this. I just wanted to share about a couple of very special people. And to let those of you who are working with the kids know this - you never know whose life will be permanently affected by the Christ they see in YOU.

He was way too young to know to look at the camera....I think maybe someone was on the side trying to get him to smile and he was looking at them.

I guess I should have made the thread "Who told you about Jesus" but then I wouldn't have a blatant excuse to show off my little miracle. :heeheehee

I was 16. On my way to being expelled from my High School, and considering dropping out. My mother was a backslidden single mother from baltimore, I basically spent my young life running the streets, fighting (which is how I was on my way to getting kicked out of high school), smoking, drinking. Started drinking at age 12 and smoking at age 14. I'd lost an older brother (my only role model and who was a drug dealer) the year before. Two Oneness Ministers that ran the youth group of a trinitarian Full Gospel church in my area had been witnessing to me and invited me to a revival at their trinitarian church. The revival was being run by another Apostolic minister from an Apostolic church that that trinitarian church had begun fellowshipping with (I know weird). Anyway long story short I got the Holy Ghost at that revival and ended up going and getting baptized soon after and joining an Apostolic church.

Re: Who Brought You To Jesus?

The word of God preached by a man who really believed it. It was the real story of how Jesus suffered the things he suffered, the just for the unjust, it broke my heart and it broke my will to know that someone as great as He would do something like that for someone as worthless as I was.
As a person who thought I was a tuff guy in those days and that I measured up to being man and earned peoples respect through fear. All of a sudden I felt shame in the presents of Almighty God in a way that I had never felt before.
He lifted the burden of sin and I felt the touch of his spirit in me, and for the first time in my entire life I had the greatest feeling of peace and joy that I could ever had in anything that I had ever done.
Then a fire began to kindle within my soul and mind one that has never gone out and one that has never left, through hard times, bad times, good times, times of victory, and times of defeat, times of faith and times of doubt.
Yes! I can confess, Through it all!!
