OK. Well, to me, the story is dripping with fishiness. Doesn't mean it isn't true, and I believe the events described were, by and large, almost certainly accurate (the disease, surgery, etc.). But a child that young could so easily have been coached -- maybe even accidentally -- that I have a hard time with taking it all at face value. The child may not think he is lying, per se, and in fact may actually believe everything. But the dad, who wrote the book, could, for all we know, be twisting things a little or a lot.

My best guess? The child had a near death experience, and his recollections of it were both driven by what he heard at church and at home, and "helped along" by others around him, afterward. Dad (author) said he took pains not to ask leading questions or cue him in any way (with an exception or two, that he admitted). But he may have done that without even knowing. Or he might just be lying. :dunno

I think the thing for me that made me believe the story is the fact that he found his sister in heaven.
As a four year old he was never told by his parents about his mother losing a baby.

Yes, this and other such details are compelling. I can't help but be skeptical, though. It says nobody told him, but they might be surprised what kids pick up just by overhearing, even when they don't seem to be paying attention. And maybe the parents didn't tell him, but someone else may have. It may have even happened after the fact -- he overheard something about it, after the visit, and it found its way into the story, even innocently. The mind plays funny tricks, when recalling dreams and such. He could be thoroughly convinced that it was part of the experience all along.

oh, the h.s. is blue and flashes beams down to earth to give us power... hopefully I didn't add or subtract from the story.

I am VERY uncomfortale with all these books claiming visits to heaven or hell. I think it bears consideration that the Apostle Paul was caught up to "the third heaven" and couldn't tell any details but everyone else and their mom (or dad) can write a book about it and get rich. Hmmm fishy indeed.

I got news for you.
A lot of people DO NOT get rich publishing these small "religious type" books.
If you want to get rich in the publishing business you better look into something different.
Ask Warren Weirsbe !

Doesn't stop people from trying. These people hit the jackpot. Their book has sold 6 million copies, there is a kids edition, a CD, a "conversation guide", a devotional, and I don't know how many languages it's been published in. Amazon has 29 items authored by Todd Burpo.

Right now, it's #2 on the New York Times Paperback Nonfiction best sellers list, and high on a lot of other lists. The kids' version is #4 on Children's Picture Books.

Ahhh, I thought you were joking at first. lol

So can we start to expect merchandise such as coloring books, action figures, direct to DVD video's, and a marketing tie in with Taco Bell?

You're thinking too small! I'm talking blockbuster movies, a TV series, theme parks! How about a city? Heavenville, Colorado! :lol

I don't know of a WHOLE theme park but I am sure there is room at Universal Studio's in Orlando, FL for a huge ride next to Harry Potter's Hogswarts castle.

As far as the movie, it is difficult to see How Peter Jackson could make it into a four film (each lasting a min of three hours) series, but if anyone can do it, HE can. And would the subsequent TV series bare any resemblance to the movies? Or would it be like comparing the Highlander movies (each of which conflicted with each other) from the TV show?

Lol, go into ANY bookstore and 90% of the books you see are on the New York Times "best sellers" list.
That's just a gimmick to get you to buy books.

IF the book is true, it bothered me, because it definitely has more of a trinitarian slant to heaven than oneness. That kind of freaked me out. But I don't know if the book is true, so I choose to remain in my stubborn beliefs.:foottap

Did anyone read this book? Another trip to heaven, by a kid:

http://www.amazon.com/I-Saw-Heaven-R.../dp/B004V1B5JY

Roberts was given a tour of some warehouses, each holding body parts -- arms, legs, kidneys,... -- just sitting there, waiting for the intended recipient to ask for them. Or something. I think Colton was spared this, um, experience.

Nah, "Roberts Liardon". That book came out in 1991, and he was just a kid (about 8? not sure) when he was taken to heaven for a grand tour. Now he's all grown up, has a ministry and a web site and scandals and everything! :)
