Do You Ever Take Work Home?

I recently started a new job as part of the management team and while the whole plant is growing by leaps & bounds (30% growth per year) I am busy trying to get the two team members in shipping up to speed in learning how to
priortise shipments and do the proper paperwork.

I just don't have time at work to put together things such as Shipping Manuals,
Customs Manuals, SOP'S, Contacts, etc.

Do you ever do some work at home where you won't be constantly bugged by phone calls, emails, and questions from co workers?

Yes & No.

I telecommute so I do all work from home. But when my work day is done... my work day is done.

Kewl. I work from home too. What kind of work do you do? I provide customer service and order taking. I work through two different companies that have contracts with several retailers and whatnot. One of the companies takes calls for infomercials.

I take raw inventory data and put into a usable database format.

Kewl. Are they hiring? I am always looking for new and better opportunities.

They have a core group of full-timers that have been with the company for a while. (Giving thanks to the Lord that I am one of those)

Beyond that they increase and decrease crew size to meet the workload via temp services.

They don't do much hiring in our department anymore unless they just run across a temp that is such a good worker that they don't want to lose them during the downtime to another company.

I was approaching the outskirts of burnout from taking my job home with me and there was no reason for it. .........I made the decision to leave my work at work and not to discuss what happened at work when I came home. That was a very wise decision. Also, on my sick leave days (as today), IF I call and listen to my voicemail messages I DO NOT even respond to them!...This is a pleasant switch from the past. ...Another wise decision was made when I decided NOT to take my problems from home to work. (That's a hard one sometimes)....I used to take my laptop with me on vacation and sneak it out when my husband would leave the hotel - just so I could catch up on reports. I've stopped that, too!!!

I have a rental house next door that may soon become my business office. My business has grown and my office space is limited in our home. It would be nice to have if I employ any office staff. Currently my wife does it all. We could also have a game room, homeschool, and a guest room in that house. Our home is three thousand sq. ft. and the house next door is about twelve hundred.
