Church Administrators and Pastors - increasing web traffic
Anyone got any FREE ideas on how to increase web traffic to a church web site for FREE?
Did I mention I'm looking for FREE ways to do this? In case you missed it... looking for FREE ways to do this. ;) Any tips? Ideas? I'm aware of the fact that you can submit a site for a search engine to crawl with its web crawler, and to use really good meta tags, but any other ideas...? |
ADMINS!
Please don't throw this into the Tech area. No one goes there... |

Post it here and you'll get tons of hits - just ask MOW!
Of course, it's not the type of traffic you are looking for! |

Meta keywords are useless, well, less than useless. nobody indexes them any more.
Meta DESCRIPTION - different story. google bots index that. Textual content on the home page is also indexed. A what's New area on the home page, with new stuff that changes fairley frequently. Also see http://www.seochat.com/ Lot of resources there. Really there is no magic that will put you on top tommorow, but there are ways that will, OVER TIME, do the job. |
Link exchanges also help rankings, Buuuttt.....since I am not about to link to a site that I don't like or whose content I find unacceptable, won't use that tool.

Thanks John

By the way, I think every few minutes, he does a search on his name on every thread in the forum because he shows up whenever anyone mentions his name. |

Maybe I need a new front end than the Advanced Stats on the First page. :bubble If you are wanting traffic, you will get weirdos. My cylinders don't all seem to be firing as of yet today. I hope coffee will cure it, or I am gonna have a whopper of a headache later today. |

It's a simple request. If you think I'm out of line then move it. No biggie... sheesh. |

I hate flash driven sites that are so slow to load and I always found it annoying a church webpage did not have a map in plain clear view. My experience is the live.local.com mappping engine is more up to date than mapquest or Google. My biggest personal pet peeve is empty buildings in photos. We are about people not architecture! I have to go face the day. |
live.local.com won't work for us based on the way they require information for the address... long story, but we're using someone else's facility and don't have one of our own yet. Makes it difficult to use that tool.
We have a picture of a map on the site for directions and have it hot linked to the mapquest page for that address. I've got a blog set up for us, but it is not live yet nor linked to the main site. Once it is, we'll have copies of audio messages which will be updated weekly. That, I think, will help wih the RSS side of things and the crawlers. Thanks for the ideas, BOOM |
Also Bro, different engines do different things, so what works for google won't work with yahoo or microsoft live. Me I just focus on google.
