Gas Price Tracker: How Much Where You Live?

I believe the price of gasoline will play a big part in the Presidential Election. The foggy ideals of "clean energy" and "green energy" are proving to be a bust. It is not economically viable for the largest economy in the world to operate on batteries, wind power and solar power. It's ludicrous. Green companies funded by stimulus money are going bankrupt.

So I thought it would be interesting throughout the year to track the price of gasoline all over the AFF family and see how it compares to the polls and eventually the election.

Here in Memphis gasoline was $3.73 per gallon last night.

How about in your neck of the woods?

It can and does change often.
Yesterday gas at a Kroger store near me was $3.85/$3.95/$4.05 and we are usually cheaper here than other areas around.

I'm old, I remember when gas was about 29.9 cents per gallon.
I remember when some of us guys went to a gas station and bought 25 cents worth because we didn't have much money among us.

It would be interesting if someone could make up a chart showing: date; price of gas per gallon; minimum wage.

Well, here are national average gas prices for the last 5 years for starters:

according to that chart it hasn't gotten as high under Obama as it was under Dubya in April/June 2008.

This is true. I understand politics and how it works, but I think it is terribly disingenuous to pretend we were playing less than $2 per gallon under W. The prices plummeted to that level for whatever reason, but it was pretty much in the narrow window while W was already heading out and O was voted in. Politics aggravates me to no end.

Gas prices versus average wages through the years are compatible. 1965- 35/45 cents gallon, wages then by government mandate,$ 1.43 hr.

This morning in Iowa, gasohol is 3.60 gallon, fuel flex, which I buy, is, 2.89 gallon.

In my Middle Tennessee town of 100,000 yesterday I think gas was at $3.71 gallon. I travel in GA, MS, AL, and other parts of TN and generally my town's prices are a little better than other places for some reason.

They say the president can't control gas prices. Yet if he announced today the opening of more public lands for new drilling, if he lifted the blockage of the Keystone Pipeline, if he presented a strategy for more domestic production, based on those efforts, that speculators and investors would cause the prices to drop almost immediately. There would be a surge of confidence in the market and an injection of security in America that Middle Eastern nations would have a diminished ability to manipulate us.

Re: Gas Price Tracker: How Much Where You Live?

$3.59

Gas prices hit a record high for this time of the year --- $3.72 national average.

Not good news for Obama...As he keeps pushing wind and solar energy and battery powered cars...

Still no real comprehensive energy policy...

I agree with that but I see NOT drilling here as one of the best national security moves we can make....provided it is not our undoing. We keep this oil for emergencies. Of course, we may be just about there. ;)

Yesterday I paid $3.58 for regular unleaded at one of the less expensive places in my town in Middle Tennessee.

houston 08-30-2012 10:32 PM

I usually pay higher prices. My old truck DEMANDS V-Power from Shell.

Re: Gas Price Tracker: How Much Where You Live?

$3.85 a gallon here. thanks goodness for the discount you can get with your Kroger card fuel savings. Because Walt has soooooooooo many prescriptions, and because you get a good savings for every prescription, I can usually save about $1.00 a gallon at least once a month.

$3.86 here........I also use the Kroger savings; filled tank Sat., saved .30, ,so it was only _____$ 3.56 :foottap

Re: Gas Price Tracker: How Much Where You Live?

Yes, but you're paying 30-40% higher in groceries.

AreYouReady? 09-19-2012 09:27 AM

Re: Gas Price Tracker: How Much Where You Live?

We pay $3.69/gallon. I suppose it is cheaper than the rest of the area but our area's gas prices stay high for weeks later when the rest of the country's gas prices go back down.

The problem in this rural area is that there is no public transportation so people must use their vehicle to get to where they are going.

Speaking of food prices...when gas cost rose during the Bush regime, then came back down to $1.50/gallon, food prices never returned to their original cost...at east not here.
Now I suspect even if gas does come back down (which I doubt) we will continue to pay 30-40% higher prices for groceries.
