Great Classic Christian Rock Station

This is the 80's and 90's Christian Rock. A lot of good stuff for those who dare.

Why the devil horns? Why associate the two together?

Well, it may not be my preferred choice of entertainment. But, I can assure you, I'd MUCH rather hear the lyrics to Christian Rock than Rock music, period. And, I'd much rather see a group of young people (or even the elder crowd, too) listen to it (or go to an event) as opposed to Rock music.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, right? Even if it's loud guitars and drumming, even if they are "screaming" in the mic, singing songs about God, He's getting the glory in the end...

Oh, brother. Some of us still believe in holiness. :foottap

Well, I would say all of us believe in holiness. It depends on who one talks to as how it's defined. Good thing for everyone, there is no set definition regardless of what some circles of Christianity say it is...

So called Christian Rock Music straight from the pit of hell.
I don't care how many Christian lyrics they work into it.
If it's sounds evil, it is evil.....

A faithful Christian must always discern (a word not often used in the church these days.).
It is one of the Gifts of the Spirit.

“Discernment” means to discern whether or not what you are hearing is the Spirit of God, human spirits, or evil spirits.
Example after example of discernment is given in the Bible.

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (‘beware of false prophets’ is said in the sternest of measures!
there will be and are false prophets, and they are Satan’s greatest weapons).

So, you see, we are actually instructed to discern and judge.

Yes I discern that much Christian rock is of God. It has built me up and comforted me many times over the years. Yes there are bad apples in the bunch just like among the hymn singers and country gospel.

Heaven is goiing to be full of loud, thunderous music. I will feel quite at home there.

I thought Rock as a musical style, lost its meaning at least a couple of decades ago.

It isn't my genre, but I think you offer a good standard,
at "built me up and comforted me." Discernment is def key there.

I went to a lot of trouble to get the soundtrack to...dang, what was the movie? My Brother's Keeper? Where they started out as convicts, escaped, sang a song, and got pardoned? (loved that song, btw)

But then I started listening to the lyrics in
most of the other "hymns" on the album; yikes?
Really pretty songs, too.

"Heaven is going to be full of loud, thunderous music. I will feel quite at home there."

Mmm; too bad you aren't going "there," huh? Or at least surely aren't staying "there."
Lol, sorry; I get you, but this language drives me nuts.
I think that perfect silence is more likely in Heaven ("Wherever God Is"),
but admit your possibility also.

Funny. Do ya'll know how much of your favorite Gospel musik incorporated the sounds of jazz and blues? Jazz and blues, holy. Rock, evil.

You just don't like the "rock" sounding music. Admit it. It has nothing to do with your opnion of discerning anything...

Rock music appeals to the base and fleshly lusts inherent in human nature. There is not cleaning such a thing up no matter who you are or how much you try. Further, every vile, filthy, evil lyric could be sung to that horrific cacophony of discordant instrumentation called 'Christian Rock'. Further, those 'artists' closely associate themselves with the world, and all of the sins of the world. Further, they look, act, and talk like the world. If they look, sound, act, and sing like the world, then they are of the world and they are not a Christian, and I do not care what label they choose to wear.

Some of my favorite music is Latin (think Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopaz). I cannot think of any Christian-Latin artists though. :(

Well...let me say this:

All Christian worship music should be inspired by The Holy Spirit.

There are three kinds of music:

1. Of satan, by satan and for satan.
2. Of man, by man, for man.
3. Of God, by God, for God.

Number 3 is the music that should be used for worship.
"Christian Entertainment" music is only a way to make money
and is not anointed by the Holy Spirit.

Remember: ALL music goes directly to YOUR spirit, Good AND bad.

Where the doctrine is right, the music will be right.

Evaluate this:

1. The Music.
2. The people playing it.
3. The message in the songs.
4. The total presentation, such as clothing, surroundings etc.

Also remember this: We are what we are listening to.
The music you hear in your church represents the spiritual condition of your church.

Yes it is in "Judas Kiss". If you backmask the record you will hear that. Its not in the song itself. :thumbsup

Style and content are of equal value and importance. If your content is right and the style wrong, it is wrong. If the style is right but the content is wrong, it is just as wrong. I will not listen often or for very long to any of the music of the 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s rock. And I am not talking about the hard stuff, but that which might now be called 'easy listening' or soft rock. I also do not listen to much in the way of country music, and the reason is simple. They endorsed and espoused sinful lifestyles and behaviors. While it might not seem like a big deal, this music corrupted the souls of generations of young people, and I see no reason to bring their perverted spiritual descendants into my home no matter what their supposed theology.
