Males Shaving Their Heads.

I know it is style now for males to shave their heads, just like goatees are in style.I'm balding but personally I can't seem to shave my head completely and that's just me. But now there are guys who have nice full sets of hair who shave their heads.

What do you all think of the trend of males shaving their heads bald ?
Some wives actually prefer this look for their husbands, and shave their husbands heads for them.I just wonder how some here feel about this trend of men shaving their heads completely bald ?

that being said, if I started going bald, I would shave what I had left. its a better look than the comb over.

Totally agree, though it does not have to be a smooth shave.

I understand this is a personal preference issue and not sinful or anything, but I just wonder how others feel about this subject.

My husband only shaves his head when I make a mistake cutting what is left on his head..like a gap. But really, this has only happened once. :)

And yes, he has been half bald since he was in his mid-twenties.

I shave my head and have a goatee. I look much, much better shaved than with thinning hair. And frankly, I prefer the look for myself even if I didn't have thinning hair.

I can respect that.I have thought of shaving my head but I can't seem to do it.
I guess personally I don't just do things cause of trends I follow my own style.
Some people look great with a shaved head.

Some of my co-workers tell me that if they were thin like me,they would shave their head.

Re: Males Shaving Their Heads.

I don't like the way my hair looks.
It is thin and sparse but I just can't bring myself to shaving off what little I have left.

Re: Males Shaving Their Heads.

well, mine isn't technically shaved... but might as well be. I do however buzz mine so close that most call it shaved.... and I was told I looked younger with it, and got a ton of compliments over it.... as well as a few Mr. Clean and Michelin tire man jokes....:foottap

I looked so crazy trying to farm a few remaining hairs and my choice was either begin a comb over, or buzz it all off.

I would suggest taking your clippers and cut closer, and closer, and closer over a period of time... I've done that over a few years, and the close shaved look wasn't as drastic of a contrast for me....

Ease into it..... I did.... now I just need to ease into being thinner.

Then the next step is to start cutting your own... and cut more frequently..... then start progressing closer.... will be much less shock to you and others.... I'm serious brother. I was doing the tv evangelist thing with my hair, then started getting it cut shorter and finally just invested in some good clippers of my own and had my hair cut guy show me how to use them.... and now I cut my own... twice a week with clippers and no guard on them.

I get my hair cut at 9:45 am of the first Wednesday each month.
I pay my barber $25.00. $16.00 of this is for the haircut and the balance is a tip.

Haven't had anyone else cut my hair in 8 years... took it over myself, invested in the clippers and best thing I ever did.

That is Jason Statham and he has been one of the A-list action hero stars the past 10 or so years. He had a number of major, but not leading, roles in films like John Carpenters The Ghosts of Mars and The One (starring Jet Li) but his breakout role was in the Transporter (followed by two sequels). His next big movie coming out in a few short months is The Expendables 2, starring alongside Sylvester Stallone and nearly a dozen other major action stars from the past couple (or more!) decades.

shows how far I'm out of it. I don't know who he is and have not seen any of those movies.

Does that mean I'm holier than the rest of you because I am separate from those things and don't know about them? :heeheehee

I'm just as out of it when it comes to current music. I have not listened to the radio in years -other than the occasional Brewer game on AM in the car. I could not name a single popular top 10 (or 40 artist) other than Lady(?) Gaga.

Since I started shaving (or cutting) my own hair a few months ago, I shave using a 4. Don't plan on changing, unless I get a wild "hair" and grow it out, spike it (like I used to do). Or, I may just shave it to a 1.

Either way, the buzz cut is back in for me, which was the case during my junior and senior year of HS ('97/'98 & '98/'99).

I've been told I look younger with my current style. And that's aboslutely fine with me...

My hubby is bald on top but has nice hair on the sides and back.
I loved it that way and so does he. He will not shave his head.

My older son does indeed shave his head. It really becomes him.
He was balding pretty much so he bought the clippers and now does
his own. Saves lots.

Younger son is also balding but not real fast. Most of his hair is still very
full and he looks really good. He won't shave his head either.

I do not shave my head at all. I would be the stuff of nightmares (much more than I already am).

I actually try to get my haircut to a short length, and then I do not return to the barber for nearly 6-8 weeks. If I go much longer than that between visits, my hair becomes thick and curly and starts sticking out in the back. When my hair is cut, I look like a hedgehog if I gel my hair. It sticks up all over.

I would have been a Freshman in the year of 98/99. I never realized that I was so close in age to Dagwood. We learn new things every day. :D

It sounds like you use my strategy for getting my hair cut. For one thing, I hate scheduling it (and paying for it) so I tend to get it cut much shorter than I would prefer but then go 2-3 months where it is much longer than I like. The last month I am really overdoing it on the gel just to keep it looking short and manageable.

Yep, although I just walk in without an appointment (we have a barber college that I visit). I hate having to try to remember every two to three weeks to go in, and so I get it cut shorter than I would if I were going to maintain a steady length. This way my hair grows out, and generally I can get it cut before it gets that long. You would have laughed to see me when I went 4-6 weeks when trying to maintain a steady lenght. I once marched myself in to the barber within a few days of looking in the mirror and accusing myself of looking like a girl. That was when I started getting it cut shorter than normal.

I think that most guys look better with their hair attatched to their head. However, that is just something that I have considered, and I know that this is the prevailing style. I just find that most guys look rather ridiculous without their hair.

Blech. Fabio isn't a good example of manly. Even with his muscles he looks somehow feminine.

Men generally look better with short hair. As long as shoulder length is tolerable, but just barely. Past that and I really hate it.

So do don't like ANY men with long(er) hair? I suppose King Aragorn is an exception because it is only shoulder length. :)
