Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday.
Is anyone having special speakers/services to celebrate, or is it just another Sunday?

I know that we do not have to esteem one day above another but it is nice to highlite this Pentecostal Experience on Pentecost Sunday.

Anyone?

CC1 05-23-2007 07:50 PM

At Christ Church we celebrate it as "Bapticostal Sunday".

Scott Hutchinson 05-23-2007 07:59 PM

Actually to understand The Day Of Pentecost ,read LEV. 23 and study about the feast of weeks.

Hoovie 05-23-2007 08:50 PM

There are special services/speaker at our church - we will go in the morning then my wife and I will speak at a AOG church in the PM.

Subjects: ABC's Wife Swap (Hoover/Meeks) and Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Compromiser! Aren't you uncomfortable speaking in a church where they worship "another god"?:club

Scott Hutchinson 05-23-2007 08:55 PM

Not sure if this is serious, but I do acknowledge a difference in doctrine. I do not doudt that we love the same Lord Jesus.

SDG 05-23-2007 08:59 PM

I'm just simply saying that perhaps by you being there you can perhaps help these dear folks understand more clearly who Jesus is.

SDG 05-23-2007 09:01 PM

Scott ... they believe Jesus is God.

Yes but they also believe that He is the second person in a Holy Trinity.
I do have a AOG statement of faith in my reference works.

Not the God of the Bible but the god of Rome and her daughters.

Many people love God who haven't been taught truth, but go and minister to them ,and The Holy Ghost can use you to stir these folks to reach to God for more understanding.

They have Traditional, Restoration, and Modern AOG churches. The Restoration ones are active in seeking the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Are you going to have the video on the network? I would like to come in from work and see it.

We are having the Charles Robinette Family and doing outreach Saturday and an altar workers seminar in preparation. Its going to be awesome. We have been passing out business type card invitations.I am giving them out at work.

Margies3 05-24-2007 12:08 PM

We're not celebrating Pentecost Sunday. (they do that in the Methodist Church here in our town). We are celebrating the World Day of Prayer. The whole service will be a prayer service.

Sam 05-24-2007 02:28 PM

That weekend is also Memorial Day weekend.
That should furnish some good thoughts for service themes and sermons.
I think our pastor is planning on doing something about supporting our troops.

Just got back in from the Assembly of God church.

One was filled with the Holy Ghost and several others stated they were refilled after a long time...

Praise the Lord!

Awesome!! Of course, there are some on here who won't believe it's the same Holy Ghost as they get, but that's ok.:heeheehee

Whatever. God was there in a very real way.

Our kids (3-6 grades) go to the AG camp here in Tennessee. It's awesome, and we always have so many kids filled with the Holy Ghost there. People can say what they want, but the camps are basically just like UPC in spirit - only the rules are a little different. And believe me, the rules are very strict there too!

Rev Dooley 05-27-2007 08:43 PM

They are not the same. What they believe will ultimately lead to hell.
I know this goes against the grain of some of the liberals, but it's the truth anyhow.
My take: the kids should go somewhere that truth is taught. If they like what they find in a place that doesn't teach truth, then a seed is planted that will one day bear fruit in their lives.
I fear for those who will reap this terrible harvest for it is not a harvest of souls for the kingdom.

The Trinitarians have their Hank Hanegraphe, so it stands to reason that Oneness Pentecostals will have their "NI"s'.

I remain unconvinced by either that a terrible evil lurks on the other side. I say this as a conservative Oneness Pentecostal myself.

With all due respect, you cannot be considered a conservative since you went on tv. Certainly you must realize that.
In regards to the "terrible evil", I guess we will just have to wait and see what kind of fruit is to be born of this issue. It takes time for fruit to grow.
Many have fallen to the wayside through the fact that they just couldn't see the serious consquences to their actions when embracing the "other side".

You're on the slippery slope now, Stephen. Don't you realize that? You might as well come on over and join the libs! :sing

Well, since our kids are not welcome at the UPC camps, this is a good alternative choice. The power of God is SO awesome at this camp and the kids come home totally refreshed. The doctrine of the godhead is NEVER mentioned and they are never baptized at the camp. But they do come home excited about living for God and full of the Holy Ghost; can't argue with results!
