Help Me Figure This Out...

Just my observation: AFF has become rampant with certain folks opening up and/or discussing certain topics. Is it something that can't escape the mind, so one feels the need to throw it out there for discussion?

That is in no way intended to "accuse" anyone of anything. But, I have to wonder what the motive is behind certain threads with some folks, especially when the topic takes on several different forms and ends up being discussed in circles, across multiple threads. I'm all for healthy discussion, and at times will stir the pot, but I'm kinda weary of the forum here lately...

I might just have to stick with the Faith Forward group on Facebook to get any decent topics/discussions. Just sayin'...

Since you brought it up, what topics here do you have in mind? I have to agree that some are over the top and I saw no use in entering those threads.

Well, if it's not the holiness/standards/hair doctrine spread throughout multiple threads, it's homosexuality...especially recently.

So, all I can think is some are having a difficult time either letting go of or embracing, and learn how to approach Biblically and soundly, either of those two topics...

Hmm...

Speaking for myself, my motives are always nefarious. :lol

I think right now the hot topics are what is most prominently discussed in our fellowships. Homosexuality is a hot button issue this political season. Standards are becoming a greater and greater topic for discussion based on how many are leaving the traditional positions on things.

The board evolves. What it looks like today might not be what it looks like in two weeks.

Holiness/standards/hair doctrine is the only means some men have to control their supposed "flock" of people. I got sick of the clothes police and left them to prey on each other. The Holy Ghost I have tells me to dress modestly.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

(John 10:27)

As for homosexuality, it's been here for millenniums. I have to wonder if Christ did address it and it was taken out of the books when the RCC put together the canon? After all, pagans have no problem with it.

All we can do is to preach God's love and what He's done for them and let the HG lead them since the Bible says that no man can come to God unless the Spirit draws them. If we know it to be wrong, then we should not practice it. We can show them the word in Love and it's up to them to be honest with God in how they receive the Word. We are not called to persecute people but to be a witness for Christ.

It goes in cycles. We have discussed the same subjects numerous times since I have joined the forum.

Seems like most of the forums are plain dying out.
I guess folks are tired of hashing and rehashing things
over and over and over......?

Certain things are cyclical. Not that the forums were popular, then they are not, then will be again, but rather different things are coming around the replace them. Several years ago when things were really hopping we didn't have Facebook to compete with. Also, the novelty factor has long since worn off.

We should incubate some new paradigms.

It's a Facebook "group." Whether it's public knowledge on here, or was supposed to be kept under the radar (for what reason, IDK), I'm not sure. But, it's only through invite by a current member of the group where access to new members is granted...

What do you think about "Right Pastor?" (btw) Or about the cliche' "Today is the first day of the rest of your life?" Who do you think is more scared of Armageddon, Satan or you? Why would you, a believer, be comfortable sitting in Satan's lap (surely me, too), but would run screaming from a town where God had taken up residence? I have Scripture for all this.

I agree with those who said that a lot of the time discussions will follow whatever is the hot topics nationally or on the political scene. I think that explains why homosexuality has come up a lot lately. Gay marriage is a hot topic nationally.

As far as the religous topics go I think it is natural for a lot of discussion to revolve around the distinctives for Pentecostals / Apostolics as they vary greatly from church to church and everybody has their opinion on them and their theolgoical validity.

As that great philospher once said "there is nothing new under the sun!".

Circular discussions of issues where there is no debate,
parsing death, imo. "How do we righteously exclude them." Until one changes their mind, they are condemned to this. It is a sign, even.
