To Renda

Have you been to the Cordova Farmer's Market yet?

I want to know what that large foul-smelling fruit in the big box over by the fish market area is.

Re: To Rhenda

I have been, but I only bought okra and tomatoes.

I didn't go over by the fish market -- so, I didn't see that fruit.

There was some really strange things in there, for sure!

Hey now! That's not fair to only show me a picture of that fried okra and that wonderful looking tomato.

I should have bought that wax apple to taste it.

Oh well, I will be coming to Memphis regularly for the next 4 years now. I will find out what that fruit is and how to prepare it...if I can get past the smell.

But, if it smells, why would you want to do that?

I know the ethnic cooks are loving the store!

Hmmm I'll have to try that!
When you fry the okra, do you just
pan fry in small amount of oil, or drop
pieces into deep fryer?

I just use a small amount in a skillet.

The Jiffy mix does make the oil bubble up, so you can only fry a little at a time to keep it from bubbling over.

ARY and Rhenda,
Have you been to the huge antique mall in Collierville? We loved all those shops. We spent last Christmas with my SIL in Collierville and spent hours just combing it for hidden treasures.

Sheffield Mall - - YES! I love it.

I lived in Collierville for 16 years - - watched it go from a small Hooterville type town to a thriving suburb without losing the small town feel. Love the square too!

Hey...I missed navygoat's post.

Where is Sheffield Mall?

I'm not very familiar with that area...yet... but expect to be as for the next four years I will be shuttling back and forth to the Memphis area.

Even thought about moving there.

AYR, stop by Bethel Church in Bartlett next time you're in town.

Collierville is my favorite area for sure. When I divorced and needed to downsize I couldn't afford to stay in Collierville. I love my home in Cordova, just wish it was located in Collierville.

Sheffield Mall is on Poplar in Collierville. It's about a mile east of the Byhalia/Poplar intersection.

If you like antiquing - - it's the place to go. Also, the town square has a lot of neat shops and is a fun place to hang out! Eat at the Silver Spoon on the square!

Thank you for the invite DB. We will be making plans for it! Please, can you give me instructions from the I 240 exit?

So...if I just get on Poplar and go east..I will end up at Sheffield Mall?

I remember reading about an airline that
does not allow this fruit to be brought onto
their planes, for the smell...Malaysian, maybe.

Surely a Google of "stinky fruit" would find it.

Correct. Lots of traffic lights, but you'll end up there. On the left after you pass Wendy's and O'Charley's is in front of it.

Ha! Here it is!
http://suite101.com/article/durian--...of-fruit-a6845

Even though the website extolls the wonderful flavor of the fruit...not sure I am brave enough to buy one, make the long drive home with it stinking up my auto, then have the nerve to bring it into my home to slice it open and try it.

:nah

But that's not saying that I never will either. :heeheehee

Thanks. Hubby and I have an anniversary coming up soon. We might just spend that weekend tromping around the area. :heeheehee

Lol - - I missed that post.

Well, I haven't been back to that Farmer's Market since my first trip. Not enough American fruit or veggies there - haha!

I go to the Farmer's Market at the Agri Center.
