Is everybody on dialup or something?

what's taking you guys so long? come on, come on, get it moving!

Listen, it's OKAY to move ahead in technology when it comes to dialup vs broadband! Seriously! Scout's honour!

It is NOT a hallmark of 'conservatism' to be stuck at 28kbs...

Seriously.

I have dialup and now my phone line is down from a storm. I am posting from a business right now.

AT&T will probably take 2 weeks to fix the line. They are slow as molasses and couldn't care less about customers. If they did, they would have the fastest access internet available out where I live.

That is what happens when a company is rolling in Billions of dollars. :heeheehee

Re: Is everybody on dialup or something?

Cincinnati Bell is my internet provider and it's some times called zoomtown and some times fuse.net. It comes through my phone line to a modem on the desk, then to an airport on the desk. My desktop, laptop, and phone receive the signal from the airport. Don't ask me any questions about speed, etc because that is as technical as I get.

I'm coming in on DSL at 5Mbs...but speed doesn't mean anything when you're downtown during rush hour.

It's called 'laptop with wi-fi broadband aircard' and 'multi-tasking'.

We have COX cable for our internet connection, but NOT television (we have DirecTV for that -no crashing through the skylight into a dinner party for me!).

Our download speed is 25 mb but often record up to 27-28. Uploading is usually between 6 and 8. There is a tier above ours available but this is plenty fast for now.

We are on the road, this is day 46. Traveling from the west coast to the east coast. Difficult sometimes to find a good connection.

What you would spend on their hi speed doesn't cover the cost to deliver. Sorry.

Where that falls down is, we the people have subsidized them for supposedly providing the service at that price, anyway. Never mind that one gets better web in the Sinai than Chicago...
