Anyone work with Kiva?

Heard about this site yesterday. I am thinking of participating with this site and wondered if anyone has any real experience, good or bad, with them?

no i did research them before, but i came in contact with some african refugees through paltalk and decided to help them directly. i just think kiva is doing god's work. i don't believe investments are guaranteed, but there is a high percentage of recovery, from what i've read.

Sherri does either this or something just like it - - she's had wonderful things to say about it!

I've been with Kiva for years; they're great.
Out of 40-60 loans, I've had 1 go bad so far,
so a $25 loss out of $Thousands (cumulatively) loaned.

I may give up 25-50 soon. I knew it existed but haven't really looked at it until now.

i think the interest is kept by the loaners. in kiva you are financing the loaners.

I think there is for the borrower. Lenders do not receive any interest. But I'm not interested in receiving interest. I would be doing this solely to help someone help themselves. $25 is not a lot of money for me but I can see where it would be in other parts of the world.

I am one of those suckers that usually can't pass someone begging in the streets without giving them $10 or $20. Yeah, I know that most probably use it to buy alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes but I hope that they don't. I just believe it's the Christian thing to do.

Subsidizing folks sinful and destructive habits is hardly the Christian thing to do.

Welp, this is the second mention I've heard of Paltalk....by internet rules I have to try it now.

One question if you're still up...are there people honestly looking for conversation there, or is it like chatroulette and omegle, hormone driven teenagers looking to pass the time with a woman?

Well, Paltalk is blocked here at work so I have to guess that it's purpose could be along those lines.

I love Kiva! I've done it for a few years now and never had a loan default. I'm a huge believer and advocate of micro finance.
