Sooo...Question.

What changes when one becomes friends with someone on AFF. What new privileges become available? Is it just there to say "Nyah nyah na boo boo I've got more friends than you-ou!" or is there something I'm missing?

I don't look at it that way.

That would be insulting to me if I asked to befriend somebody simply because I like them and they think I am indiscriminate in my friendship requests.

Heh heh. I didn't really mean that, I was just being eh...I dunno the word. Sarcastically stuck up maybe? I'm just wondering what purpose does a "friendship" serve on here, other than being friends? Are we able to do anything different now?
Oh by the way, thanks for requesting, new best buddy :highfive

Re: Sooo...Question.

I do not look at friendship requests that way.

When I befriend somebody, it is simply because I like them.

Not that I always agree with them. There is some quality about them that I value and carefully consider before I send friendship requests. Usually it has to do with the style they post and how I perceive their character in their writings.

I do not indiscriminately befriend people, but I personally have my own criteria why I befriend some folks. I'm sure that everybody feels somewhat the same way.

I am old enough to know that there are acquaintances and there are friends and even more than that...in a person's lifetime, they will be blessed to have just a few true blue friends at any given time. The ones that love you when things are good and the kind of friends that will tell you in love when they believe one is in error.

eye yi yi!!!! That word should be discriminate. Typing error. Gonna have to change it.

If I were indiscriminate, then all 3000 people, more or less would be befriended in my list. Eek. Gotta go change that word.

Heh! I cannot edit now. The edit button disappeared before I was able to change it. Oh well. Hope some people knew what i was trying to convey. :heeheehee

Actually, I have made some very good friendships on these forums with several people. Even though we may never meet in person, I know that these people are living breathing human beings with emotions, strengths and frailties behind the 'puter screen ...just like me. One really great person that I think a whole lot of...I have personal email exchange and not just friendship on this board.

Some people I don't ask, even though I agree with them more than I disagree, is because I can feel the resentment and that they wish I was not here. I don't sweat the small stuff though. :D

Oof, thats the second major typo I've caught tonight. The other one, said her mom smoked three cartons of cigarettes today. My reply was, "If I didn't know you were pentecostal, I'd call bluff." She said she meant one carton.

Ok...I feel your sarcasm. I feel unappreciated. Go ahead and unfriend me if you think that there are silly innuendoes here.

No wonder people say what they do about AFF.

:( I didn't mean that last thing sarcastically...I was just joking around. And I could care less what people say about me, save for a few here.

I'm really sorry, I guess I shouldn't have even posted this thread. I'm just funning tonight.

Re: Sooo...Question.

Honestly, I don't have a hateful bone in my body. I'ankful that you decided to friend me, seeing that someone new friended me made me wonder exactly what friending does, so I thought I'd make a thread about it, and I thought the parts where I was being sarcastic would be perfectly obvious, and the parts where I wasn't and I was just joking would be perfectly obvious too. I had no intention to hurt your feelings whatsoever, and I am enormously sorry we had this misunderstanding. Please forgive me for not thinking my words through before I sent them?

Honest question

What new privileges become available? Is it just there to say "Nyah nyah na boo boo I've got more friends than you-ou!" or is there something I'm missing?
Was just joking.

Heh heh. I didn't really mean that, I was just being eh...I dunno the word. Sarcastically stuck up maybe?
Really meant that, couldn't think of a good word, I guess I should've used the dripping with sarcasm emoticon here

I'm just wondering what purpose does a "friendship" serve on here, other than being friends? Are we able to do anything different now?
honest question

Oh by the way, thanks for requesting, new best buddy
Halfway meant that, halfway didnt. I'm sure we will grow to be great buddies, however I consider T2W and Jay my best buddies. Maybe one day you will be one too!

Indiscriminate? So you ask everybody? I no special? *crushed*
I thought you really meant indiscriminate, and the rest was a joke.

Oof, thats the second major typo I've caught tonight. The other one, said her mom smoked three cartons of cigarettes today. My reply was, "If I didn't know you were pentecostal, I'd call bluff." She said she meant one carton.
was just sharing where i caught another typo earlier

And the rest was trying to explain myself, but then I figured I could do that better by going over each thing i said and explaining. I hope you're still here and haven't left mad at me.

He is asking what does Friending someone here accomplish? (I've often thought the same thing.) I have quite a few "friends" in the boards status sense but I am not sure what it means, if anything.

Re: Sooo...Question.

Matt, I left because it was late and I was overtired. I have a condition that I literally get sick when I am overtired or my muscles are overused. Muscle exhaustion occurs much quicker in people like me than in normal people.

I think that this question could be best answered by administrators, if they will.

There you go! :thumbsup

It's just forming a friendship online because it cannot be formed in the physical.
