14 dead, at least 50 injured in shooting at...

"At least 14 people have been killed and up to 50 injured after a mass shooting at a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at a suburban Denver movie theater, police"

Absolutely horrifying. 13 years ago, Columbine (I have relatives in Littleton), and now this.

I believe an AFF-er lives in the area this occurred.

Praying for all...

Read this this morning. What a tragedy. Is the world getting worse or do we just hear more about it?

And people still wonder what's going on in the world today!
Jesus is the answer to all the world's problems.

My daughter just told me that a woman who survived a mass shooting in Toronto a short time ago was killed in this theater attack.

Where do these nuts come from? We really are reaping what comes from a society who instills no love, values, discipline, etc in children.

Through the ages there have always been misfits with no conscience who are open to evil but in this day and age the number has multfiplied exponentially.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the dead and with those that are recovering from their injuries in the hospital.

I just saw a report on the internet that the death toll could rise as there are 5-10 critically wounded people being treated in addition to those with injuries that are not life threatening.

Yes, especially to the second part of your statement.

I am pretty sure that had the media been around during the Greek, Roman, Middle Ages, and even during the expansion into the Wild wild west (there were at least this many deaths at the Bird Cage Theater in Tombestone, AZ alone), people would think the world was going to hell in a hand basket then as well.

How incredibly sad... just wondering... where was the old man with the concealed handgun who saved people's lives just a few days ago in a cafe? Perhaps if more people carried concealed weapons, this kind of tragedy could have been a completely different story....

It is an incomprehensible thing for these poor people, those who are living to tell the story, and those who died... especially the children!

I will be spending time in prayer today for all those involved in this tragedy.

Keep in mind folks, part of this "seeming worse than other events" is the emphasis and even sensationalism the media does on stories like this. The fact is, there's been more than 14 dead in the last 9 days in Nashville, all of the result of shootings... but the national media hasn't focused in on it.

The fact is that there is a ton of violence every single day all around us, but the media will only report it when it's "got a good spin on it" that will keep us glued to the TV. It actually sickens me.

The local media here in Nashville does the same thing. They'll tell about the violence, or some crazy killing, like a guy that was shot, then his head separated from his body by a shovel.... and play it up. But never follow through on the trial, the sentencing, etc. So are they really concerned with news? or just sensationalism.

And then ole Obama has to play up to the cameras... surprised he wasn't out playing golf.

Just sickens me. I minister in the projects and inner cities of Nashville. I know many of these gang banging kids by name. There's been more than 14 gunned down within two weeks here... but where are the lights and the cameras... oh that's right..... just some black kids killing other black kids aint sexy for tv......

Apparently this should not have happened because the theater was a "No Firearms!" zone. Inconceivable that the perp would blatantly ignore the sign showing the gun inside the crossed off red circle while all the lawful concealed carry permit holders didn't ignore the sign and kept their guns in their cars or at home.

Pretty much sums it up for me also. I watched the local news here in Dallas when the story first broke only long enough to cach the jist, if there is such. At first, 14 dead, now I'm seeing only 10 dead, or 12 dead. Depends on the source.

But, nothing sends more chills up my back than to see some of the raw video from those actually at the theater when it happened -- reminds me all too much the scene of the kid at Columbine falling out of the second or third floor window that was caught on camera from a helicopter.

I'll watch my local news at noon, which I'm sure will include the theater shooting. However, unlike in '99 when I consumed myself with Columbine, I think I'll pass on watching national news coverage since emotions and reactions will pretty much be the same across the board, IMO...

Same here.

We need to lobby for fewer 'firearms free' zones. Hospitals (where I work) are among the palces that legal guns are kept out... I hate that I spend 10 hours a day somewhere that I'm defenseless... well... almost defensless...

Watching ABC News/Diane Sawyer...

The shooter has a clean record, other than a minor traffic stop. So, we know he's not a criminal based on that, at least not one in Aurora...

I still hold the Hollywood film producers responsible for messing with the brains of our young people!

I think there's a great deal of nonsense Hollywood produces, but I wouldn't go so far as to blame or hold them responsible for mesing with young people's minds.

Hollywood chooses what to produce. Viewers chose what to watch.

The media spends to much time on this issue.
The more they keep putting this up front, the more is the danger of copy-cats.
