Hollywood the cause of killings?

Is Hollywood the cause of the recent killings?
Does satan work through the movie industry to mess up our youth.
Are children brain washed by all the junk they see in movie theatres, on computers, etc. ?
Are our kids being messed up by electronic gadgets they are playing with all day?

How do our children's lives compare to children's lives, say 60 years ago?

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

There are a lot of questions there...

No to the first, there were murders long before Hollywood.

Yes, no, no.

Essay required, I will pass on that one.

This requires a concerted effort, to turn a child
from life to death.
If you don't think movies have an impression,
particularly on a younger mind,
just take a year off from watching them,
and then try to watch one. Virtually any one,
but just pick any Disney movie, say, from the last ten years,
and then try to post that you weren't disturbed.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Of course any news from the muslim world would be even more scary.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Not really interested in the bait, Dordt;
but I will say that your children grow up
with magicians at B'day parties,
and celebrate Ishtar during Passover.
You might tend to your own weeds?

bbyrd009 07-21-2012 02:46 PM

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

And in my experience,
"news" and "Muslim world"
are pretty much mutually exclusive,
to US at least-
-where might you be getting this "news?"

Lol, btw, have you met any frat boys lately?
The future of your country?
Let's talk scary...

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

As a precursor to the comic above, you might
YouTube "Disney subliminal" for some quite interesting
"news."

You could have posted all your nonsense in one post.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Spoken like someone who refuses
to see the heinous yack being
directed at their children,
and evidenced in slo-mo on YouTube.

Also a great evasion; if it's tripe,
why answer? Lol, but you surely still believe
that "terrorists" are responsible for 911, too.
Could you please just go put your head back in the sand?

Brainwashed? How about influenced.:thumbsup
No.
According to my Dad, children's lives 60 years ago was very difficult and hard. He would know. He was a child 60 years ago.

Different subject, same sentiment:

You are so secure in your God and your faith that you literally quake with fear at the thought of scary news from the Muslim world

I pity you and those like you, hopefully you can some day be delivered from the walls of your small and compressed world of ignorance and fear

Muslims are just as diluted and wrong in their religion as any other religion. I'm not scared of them one bit.

Love them, but they need to be reached just like everyone else.

I was actually thinking about these idiotic satan inspired muslim suicide bombers blowing up children and women.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Not to worry. Plenty of villages and wedding parties get flattened in return with payback on a ratio of about a thousand to one.

The issue at hand is actually what is becoming an obvious deficiency in courage. Does your faith have any meaning or not? If so stand on it, if not it is best not to advertise it.

The thing is that Big Birds opinion is more like a broken clock that is right twice a day. Through the haze of weed smoke I sense a guy who's opinion is about as relevant as the gas the escapes my Border Collies posterior after giving him too much onion rings from Chili's Take Out where we bought the Two-for-Twenty and the appetizer we chose was the onion rings with jalapenos.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Hey, I'm overjoyed if I can get it right
twice a day. While I...sympathize, I guess is
the best word, with movie watchers,
I am also aware that subliminal messaging
was never outlawed, hmm.

While "spoons make you fat"
is also a relevant reflection, and I do recog this,
it's hard to deny its opposite, which is that
if one is surrounded by spoons, inundated with them,
and told that they are ok from birth by those
in a position of trust, then, all of a sudden,
a spoon with the F bomb written on it
in a children's movie becomes ok,
and then, where does that end?

So, for my first "right" of the day,
I'll say "It's a Wonderful Life" is great!
and movies about demi-gods saving the planet are not,
at least for me; and I don't expect my line to be anyone else's.

"You only get what you give away."

Ha the problem does not lie with your receiver--but I just re-read my last unclear? post, and the reference was to T2W's "spoons make you fat" analogy.

Do spoons make anyone fat? No, but if I have
a brother who is susceptible to spoons, do I
encourage him in a more...healthy direction,
or help find a way to offer him more flavors of ice cream?
"Am I my brother's keeper?"

I get you on this, really I do...

But we all have to decide for ourselves.

God does not have grandchildren.

Mom and Dad's rights and wrongs don't save us and they don't condemn us.

We have to heed the call for ourselves.

And we have to eschew evil on our own.

Because evil has always been and will always be on this side of eternity.

Spoons did not make me fat.

People, not guns, kill people.

Movies may influence but we choose to act.

It's all about personal responsibility.

The cause of this killing is that this guy decided to kill people.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Yup. And subliminal messages are a sin, to me.

Btw, for the record, I can't stress enough
how much I recommend not smoking pot
(is this the right thread?)
especially for a depressive.
Another case of a wonderful gift perverted, imo.
Completely changes the chemical profile, etc.

T2W, I agree, but...
I think the reality is that so much negativity
inevitably affects the set of choices a kid can even make

One day I'll tell you a story. About two kids with the same genetics. Who lived in the same house. Who had the same screwed up upbringing. Today one is a killer who soon will be executed by the state. The other is a productive citizen who pays taxes and follows the rules and loves God.

Hint: I am one of them. Personal choices count and no negative influence negates that.

I heard one guy say "More people should be born again."
I have to agree with that statement.

If this guy was born again, he would not be shooting people in movie theatres.

OSAS, right?

Dagwood 07-24-2012 05:39 AM

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

It's always someone else's fault, right? Sure, I agree Hollywood's influence doesn't help. But, let's rid ourselves of the victim mentality and take responsibility. The shooter made the choice to plan out a very-detailed attack. The shooter made the choice to shoot and kill, however many he intended to kill IDK. He made the choice. It's his own fault.

When will folks grow up and stop blaming someone else for their own action(s), or stop blaming some group for someone else's actions?
