Why I haven't been here very much lately...

I know you all are gonna blast me for this. But I have to tell you the honest truth. The reason I've backed out of AFF lately is because I am totally tired of reading all the political stuff over and over and over and over. Most of us have already decided who we're voting for, so why do we have to keep rehashing all of the dirt again and again and again?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually looking forward to November when we can get back to arguing over whether to cut women's hair or whether men should have facial hair or even whether nekid elbows are a sin or not.

Ok, carry on. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in :)

Glad you said it Margie!

Discussing politics is worse than discussing religion. :lol

NO WAY! I hate discussing religion. I'd rather be divisive over politics any day! To each his own. If I don't like the title of a thread, I don't open and read it. :highfive

Ditto me on the part about not opening a thread to read it if it is a subject you are not interested in!

Margie, the last time I checked no one was forcing your hand to click to open a thread about politics!!!!! LOL

Apparently, she didn't open any political threads, which is why she hasn't been on AFF? :heeheehee

Ditto with you Margie! This whole political scene is one that really we have no control over anyway.

And, I live in a state where Mormons are the voting majority... ya think our vote one way or another will make a difference... no... and no doubt the votes are going to be rigged anyway, since they are going to be counted in Spain... so I have better things to do with my time than open up and read threads that lead to endless political debate....

I too will be VERY glad when November rolls around :)

Which leads me to wonder who in our government is the advocate for the rights of the american people? Votes counted in Spain? Good grief! That is like america counting the election votes in Russia or Poland.

So good to know that I am not alone in this way of thinking! Anyone know any good recipes we can discuss? or maybe there has been some OTHER news we can pick apart? How are you liking the new fall shows on TV? What is God doing in YOUR church or YOUR life? SEE!! LOTS of other stuff we could be talking about!!

Oh good that's all... I was thinking you were going to say you had cancer and had been having like 10 major operations and chemo or something...

I don't do politics so I don't look at those... and I don't want to talk about how hot hell is so I don't open that... or... or... So sometimes I too am a little limited... Maybe time fo another farm update so we can talk about what I love!

Re: Why I haven't been here very much lately...

Well, it helps to see that if you want to be somewhere you've never been,
you have to go somewhere you've never gone. While we attempt this, mostly
with threads that Scripture tells us have no answer, there are lots of other topics that may grow a Christian. I look for subjects that "convict" me, not really pleasant; or things that seem impossible on their face, but aren't specifically dealt with in Scripture. That may tend to convict me :lol

Wow you start a thread about how tired you are of reading about politics.
Then you post on a thread on Obama Care.
Go figure???
Quote:

Here's the big deal in our case: Walt had to quit work in May of this year and go on disability. Our income is ok but unfortunately, when he left his company, it meant our insurance will be done as of the end of October. Yes, we can still get Cobra - but it will cost us $1600 a month!! I don't know about you, but $1600 a month is ALOT more than we can afford. So we've been looking at other options. And guess what - because Walt had an aneurysm that ruptured 6 years ago and because his aorta remains dissected the entire length of it, the only insurance we can get it not even worth getting. Insurance that will cost us $1000 a month and still offer no prescription insurance and have a deductible of $15,000 a year.

So try again to convince me that this Obamacare stuff is such a wonderful thing. Ain't gonna hapen. Now if someone would step in and totally overhaul the whole insurance industry - THAT person would get my vote for sure! Obama fell FAR, FAR short of doing that!

While I see your point, having an interest in health care reform is not strictly political. Medical care as we know it is not possible without insurance or a boat load of money... Of course the idea that we are somehow entitiled to the highest level of care in the world is something else all together.

I've never understood why a people who believe that to die is gain spend so much time, effort and money fighting it. :)

I've been thinking about this a lot in nursing school. Of course, quality of life matters. However, there comes a point, and I am not sure where that point is, that we should accept we are finite beings.

Re: Why I haven't been here very much lately...

Margie, My husband and I are having a kitchen trash war.

My habit - When the trash gets to the top of the container, I pull out the bag, set it on the floor, gather all the trash from the other containers around the house, dump them all in the kitchen bag, tie up the bag and put it in the trash receptacle outside. He then takes the trash can to the curb twice a week.

His habit - When the trash gets to the top of the bag, he continues to add more trash by pulling up the sides of the bag. There is no foundation around the remaining sides to insure it will stay up.

Now, I'm thinking that what is going to happen is that the trash is going to eventually fall on the floor and I will have to pick it up.

I asked him why he doesn't just take the bag out of the container. He said that's a dumb way to do it.

So, right now, the trash is full, with remaining sides of the bag up. I'm going to see what he does with the bag. Last night he added something else and said, "Look." He then pulled up the sides of the bag. Little jerk. :heeheehee

I've never waited so see what will happen, but the war is on- I'm leaving the bag to see what the end results will be. :boxing

Oh my... we have this exact same war! My hubby will actually pile the trash up the wall... under the guise of it being in the lifted bag. And when he does take out the trash it is ONLY the kitchen trash... I am the ONLY one who ever empties other waste baskets. What stinkers!:smack

Am I right to assume that what he will probably do is pack the trash down further into the container making it harder for me to get it out? I know that's what he's going to do. :smack :heeheehee
