Michigan District Resolution

From a resolution passed by the UPCI Michigan District ministers meeting:

"We also understand the need for wisdom, patience and tolerance in both evangelism and discipleship, proclaiming the life of faith and legalism."

http://stuffapostolicslike.blogspot....tting-dem.html

OK, discuss. (I've already "commented" enough on FB. :lol)

Why? You don't respect them, so
why comment on them? What is
with the "legalism," btw?

The title of your link - "Stuff Apostolics Like" :heeheehee

My daughter changed membership from a church (very large) where she, emphatically, claimed that the women were hard on the standards. I told her, "No, they aren't. They just won't tell you that." She told me I was wrong. After she left, people in leadership talked with her on the phone telling her they follow the standards to keep their positions on the platform.

I think I just entered the bitter zone, right? :heeheehee

I didn't comment (here). Just asked for others to discuss. And it should be obvious that that is optional. :lol

I used the link and went to the website and read it. I keep thinking that surely it has to be a typo on the scanned document. I cannot believe they actually used the word "legalism"!

As far as the letter itself goes I think it is probably the template that UPCI HQ / DB used in his Texas district then once he became GS urged other districts to send out.

I'm interested in this type of stuff, especially when it involves the Michigan District, where I grew up, was licensed, and pastored.

I was surprised by the resolution as it originally read, and Rebecca's explanation makes a bit more sense. However, she is correct - once it circulates, it's gospel.

And, it seems that this resolution could have stood a closer proofread....I'm sure there are critics who are claiming that they are making up the story about the word "not" missing just to deflect criticism.....

Rumor has it that there was a typo in the document.... it was supposed to say "and not legalism"

I understand, Michael...

Btw, back in the day, did you know Cyndi Hoover Sexton and her husband, Garland?

Cyndi passed last week and her home going service was tonight in Auburn Hills.

Yes, I heard.....Cyndi's brother, Bub, was my favorite camp counselor....and Garland was the first guy to ever let me play the drums....I was so saddened to hear of her passing.

Bubby, or 'Red' as he's known outside of MI, is a retired captain in the Navy. He looks the same I think...
