Christian D-Day!
Christians must recognize that this is our Christian D-Day,
that the battle for soul of this nation is at its zenith, that now is the time to come out of our caves, that the future of Christian-America lies in the hands of the church, that singing Christmas carols in our church is not sharing the Gospel. The times, and our Lord, demand so much more. |

Wow. Talk about taking things too seriously.

I suspect somebody just got their feelings hurt! There's so much truth in this post. And yet...I don't think this has been an "intentional" maneuver, rather, it's just HUMAN NATURE trying so hard to help God shine (as if He needs help) that we lose sight. We are so noisy, so distracting, so planned out, so programmed...we don't give God time to ENTER IN. Help us Lord... Someone on this forum posted this link not too long ago... It is so timely. Listen to it all! The ending is very powerful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6smGew7dGto |

It's ironic many people cry for signs, wonders, healings and miracles but when they do occur, they are skeptical.

You're missing the most important step, GO. The devil doesn't mind if you pray, fast, and fellowship. The apostles prayed, fasted, and fellowshipped, but God sent persecution to the Jerusaleem church so they would be forced scatter.

Re: Christian D-Day!
Today in America, as the spiritual battle rages like
no time in our history, when God-hating forces are boldly and blatantly declaring that Jesus is not Lord, what is the response of the Church? When the forces of hell are unleashed in the battle for the soul of this nation, when the culture is crumbling like a saltine cracker, when a society on the verge of self-destruction screams for Truth, how do Christians fight back? |
Re: Christian D-Day!
Sadly we don't fight back with the appropriate enemy, Dordt. We are too busy fighting each other.

Thinking that we are doing God's will, that we are "sharing the Gospel" we have become deluded into thinking that we are having an impact. All of the while, we are playing the role that secular, God-hating America has spelled out for us. Sharing Jesus, with the already converted, in the safety of our stained-glass fortresses, reducing the birth of Jesus to nothing more that a month-long birthday party. |

And we don't even share Jesus. We argue over who has the correct interpretation of God's Word. |

the Bible to prove contradictory teachings. In the book Literal Interpretation of the Bible it says, "Apparently the Bible can be made to prove almost anything." Considering all the contradictions in the various teachings all supposedly based on the Bible, one must ask the question, "Who is right?" Surely, God is not teaching, for example, that one is saved by earning salvation by good works and also teaching man is saved by God's Grace without works. God cannot contradict Himself nor can He lie. The question is then can God's truth be determined with absolute certainty? Hanging in the balance is the very souls of men and their eternal destiny. |

You are so right when you say that there are no contradictions with God. When life gets too heavy for me, I have to go back to Matthew 11:28-30 for proper perspective to be returned to me. I feel your heart in your posts here. We have so many of satan's minions attacking the Christian people that we just strike out trying to knock them away instead of being focused on Christ and His message. |

And I haven't seen any power for a long time. I believe this applies. Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: |
Re: Christian D-Day!
Look around you.
What do you see? You see the Joel Osteen-type churches bulging out at the seams. Churches--where pastors are unwilling to get involved in anything "controversial," where pastors are content to stay completely disengaged from anything that might be deemed "political," and where pastors refuse to even hear the truth of what is really going on--are filled every Sunday. They have the largest crowds, biggest offerings, and most ornate buildings. Why, in the name of common sense, would you expect your pastor to "take a stand" or "get involved"? Why should he? You have--by your support, attendance, and offerings--clearly told him that you like him just the way he is! |

Yep

Re: Christian D-Day!
Many churches (not all, thank God!)
have adopted the ways of the world. Humanistic psychology is trying to meet people's problems IN the churches. There will be NO help from that source. Jesus Christ is the only answer. |

Humanistic psychology is trying to meet
people's problems IN the majority of the churches today. That's why it's hard to find a good church. |

Have problems? They'll tell you to just "pray about it", which is like telling a hungry person "Just imagine that you're not hungry, it will be fine". People slam Osteen and his compatriots, but he's doing something right - he has over 40,000 people who flock to the stadium every Sunday. How many attend the church where you attend? And, I really get tired of people saying "There's no power in my church", but failing to take personal responsibility to bring the power. Sorry for my rant, but I'm tired of supposedly "holy" people who are disguising their lack of power behind a cloak of holiness - i.e., we have the truth, which is why people don't come to our church! They'd rather go somewhere where they can believe a lie. HOGWASH! If you had answers for people, they'd be filling up the aisles..... |

One thing Osteen does right is ear tickling, telling them what they WANT to hear. |

How many times do you find Jesus in church? Compare that to the amount of times you find him going thru the cities and towns, healing people, delivering them from their bondage, etc. He didn't preach a lot of doctrine. He taught them how to live life more abundantly. And you say numbers don't matter.........does your church take attendance? If so, why? |

Re: Christian D-Day!
It is infinitely more important
that you be in a church that preaches the truth and takes a stand than that your teens attend "the most exciting youth program," or that your kids are in one of these glorified playgrounds (called "children's ministries") so they can play games and stay entertained, or that your church has a softball team, or that it has the prettiest buildings, or that it has music you think is "just right," or that it is the "premier church in town" for social gatherings or business contacts. And yes, I have heard Osteen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwL1DThtxYg |
