Family Of Secrets
I had heard about this book a few years ago & was intrigued & wanted to read it. I went to our local library in the late fall & looked--they had 4 copies in the system.
I had to put a hold on it to reserve me a copy & they got it in to my local branch What a read! 500 pages & well researched with footnotes & interviews. It is a real eye opener. It is amazing how everyone is connected together--it reads like a real thriller mystery. Anyone else read it? Here is a readers review from a site selling the books Here are a few questions for you. Name US Presidents and future Presidents who were in Dallas on Nov. 22nd, 1963. Can you remember what you were doing when you heard Kennedy was shot? Which of the above future US Presidents changed his story about his activities that day? Which one had a memory lapse? Who brought down Richard Nixon? Which American bank funded the Nazis? Which Bush family member? Russ Baker has done a great job investigating why the United States allowed George W. Bush to become the 43rd. President. Was George absent without leave? Was George a deserter? What part did George H. W. play while in CIA? How did 41 ensure that 43 survived his rocky past business dealings in his rise to the top? Readers will find that "born again" George was not always opposed to abortion. The Savings and Loan debacle and the new financial tsunami have powerful Bush influence; Russ Baker backs up his strong evidence with footnotes. This book deserves to be required reading in all US and Canadian institutes of education. |
Re: Family Of Secrets
Allow me to also ask a question.
How is the current president related to said family above? |

Also, there are probably a book written for every President, that being said, this book delves into one particular family & it's place in both world history as well as American politics. One example is Richard Nixon, Watergate was a set up because he asked the CIA for all of the documents relating to the Bay of Pigs & they said--"NO!" |
Re: Family Of Secrets
Were there more than LBJ there that day?

You see, if it was the CIA that did it, who is ultimately accountable for it? The Commander in chief! He was toast no matter how it went. Check out your local library if they have a copy. You can also check out Amazon.com as well.:thumbsup |

Re: Family Of Secrets
There truly are conspiracy theories for any and every thing that happens! Books like this prove it.
I believe most conspiracy theories are wrong because of Occam's razor theory. |
Re: Family Of Secrets
The ones who funded the nazis is historical fact, not conspiracy theory. It is in the records.

Re: Family Of Secrets
Bump for PO or anyone else who has read the book. I have about 60 pages left out of a 500 page book. It talks about a lot of different people including Karl Rove.
We borrowed a copy from our local library. :bump |

The biggest surprise out of the book (for me anyways) is the fact that there was strong evidence that Richard Nixon was set up to take a fall or to discredit him. I am sure he wasn't a perfect man & had his failings, but he was nowhere near what they say about him. Suffice it to say that pwerful men helped get him into the highest office in the US & when he, like Kennedy before him, thought that he was going to call the shots, he found out later that it doesn't work that way. Texas is the one State that was a seperate country before it joined the union & probably has a good a basis as any State to secede than other States. |

Yes, Texas has and always will be independent in our thinking. We lead the way in may ways. I think Gov. Perry is going to run again. Abbott is saying that he will not run against Perry, if he decides to do that. He's done really well for us even with the Texas Monthly and others pushing again him. lol |

Re: Family Of Secrets
Started reading it. Amazing how far back the Bush family goes, and how deeply they're involved in everything. I'm only a couple chapters in...have a loooooong way to go, and I'm already disgusted.

Re: Family Of Secrets
I am on the last 30 pages & it is due back this Friday.
Unfortunately, politics in general most days disgusts me. |
