HALLELUJAH! Our Church Bought A New Hammond Today!!

we've had the same B3 for 23 Years and let me tell you, that poor Organ was worn out! Tore up from the floor up!

Well, my repairman found an Old Lady that lived on a Farm that had one in her living room for Years but never played it. It's a hammond C3 Vintage 1960 Emaculate condition!! My Repairman sold it to me for $5000 that is a Steal!!! a vintage Hammond that's in pristine condition usually goes for 10,000 and up and a brand new one is 20,000 and up !!!
so this was a big Blessing! thanks be to God !

CC1 05-29-2007 11:30 PM

Congratulations Thad!!!

Isn't a C3 the same as a B3 mechanically but is more like a desk in that it doesn't have the back?

Trouvere 05-29-2007 11:35 PM

Great!! and has a good touch to it - that is important.
we totally wore the contacts down on the other one.
almost every key sqeaked when we played it.
every Hammond has a personality and it's own temperament(kind a like some church folk lol). we are VERY happy about this one. It's like we have stumbled upon a Blessing

it's 2:30AM in Detroit what in the world are you doing up ?

B-3 sits on 4 legs, C-3 has an enclosed cabinet.

The B-3 is the one that has to have a decorative "skirt" to protect the audience.

:D

COOP
I like this New C3 and the reason is it is vingtage series
the B3 we had was a tube Hammond BUT It was a 1973 Hammond B3.
that was the last Year they made Hammonds. not quite as good as the ones made between 1958-66
The B3 was a good Organ and served us well though. I'll miss it too :heeheehee

So, are you playing anywhere now ?

:D

Not if the ladies playing it are wearing skirts long enough themselves. :D

I wish I could find a deal like that.

Rico 05-30-2007 09:17 AM

So basically it's like finding an original 57 Chevy in someone's garage with super low like new miles on it. Is that what all the excitement is about, Thad?

No....that would be finding a 65' B-3 in the original crate UN-used.

Yep. :highfive

We got an RT-3 (like a B-3 gutwise, but in the C-3 style cabinet, but bigger - has the full 32-note concave pedal board) and Leslie for like $5,100 a few years ago. Had it for a year and a half or something maybe, and it needed a little refurbishing done on it, but we opted for trading it in and getting a New B-3.

Rico 05-30-2007 09:26 AM

I see. Well, congrats on the new organ. Don't be so hard on it, like you were the other one, and maybe it will last until you retire. :D

Right now I am play a little M connected to a Leslie. So if I could find the right deal I would like one now. If not I'm going to just hold off until we get in the new sanctuary, our present on is had a very small platform. But if the right deal comes along I would get one now.

BTW, I heard of a church just the other day that got rid of their Hammond simply because they want ALL contemporary music and no association with "pentecost". in fact, a friend was visiting this church and the ladies had just come back from a ladies retreat. they was excited and shouting, dancing etc, and the leadership decided that this would offend visitors so they squelshed it. I was really surprised! this is a UPC church. apparently they are now "SEEKER FRIENDLY"

O NO a hammond M is Not going to Cut it my friend!!! :heeheehee
even an A-100 would be MUCH Better than that and are not too pricey.
in fact, I love the A-100. they are EXACTLY like the B-3, same amount of Keys, same exact buttons & options but Way Less in Price. If you hook it up to a 122 or 147 Leslie you would never tell the difference.
you can buy one on Ebay or from the internet and find A good deal BUUUUT you will pay $$$$ for the crating! I bought an A-100 for home and ended up paying $600 for the crating. This time I waited till something came up in my area. My Organ repairman found this one just outside of Fresno and brought it to me for free.

also! Don't buy one from a Pentecostal church! lol
those organs have taken the most abuse of all (out side of the ones that have been played in Rock bands!). the ones that have sat in a person's home or funeral palor are the best. we had a funeral home call us one day to tell us they had a organ to give away if someone would just pick it up.
I didn't think it was going to be much of anything. but I went and took a look and low and behold it was a hammond B-C which is the B3 before it was called a B3 minus the percussion. I used it in our chapel till we found a hammond C-2 for $40 dollors! yes $40! I turned around and sold the B-C for the church for $1000.

But strictly southern country???

anymore do you ? I Think Bro Frost in Bakersfield still
has one .... maybe. I'll have to check on that

At the last church I pastor I found a A100 and leslie for $1500 and it was great. That thing would rock the house. I would love to find another one like that.

When I find another one A100, B3 orC3 I am going to buy it for myself. I am the only organ player in the house.

Hey by the way , would you by any chance have a chord sheet to "I think I'll Testimony what the Lord has done for Me"

He specializes in Lead sheets LOL :lol

THAD - I rejoice with you in finding this GEM! We have a Kickin' A-100 with a powerful Leslie in the church and then I have two H-100's here at the house and three other Hammond's in storage. One of these days - I am gonna sell all but my A-100. My wife likes it better than any of the others but I want a B-3 or C-3 for the church.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
