What were you expecting or looking for at AFF?

After reading a post in another thread I was amazed how the poster came with one agenda and found another.

For me I go back to the first original forum. To be honest it has been my favorite because it was what I was looking for; Bible study interaction. The newer forums don't offer the dept of discussion we had there. One reason is most of those posters have left to go to a ministers only forum.

Second the same subject keep coming up and some of the older posters just are tired of discussing the same subjects, here I need to remind US, me included to be more patient and let them ask their questions.

Third reason I have found and appreciate is updates of what is happening around the different churches. I have found pastors today tend to keep everything to them selves.

Discussion on conferences I am not able to attend. It's a good way to keep updated.

I have met some really nice people here and truly miss a lot of my favorites that have left.

I love and have learned politics from PO and Deacon Blues.

The food section used to more lively than it is now. But everything ebbs and flows.

I dont have as much time as I used to here but still enjoy interacting with cyber friends. :)

I found this forum in 2010, and it has been a blessing in many ways for me too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us Esther :)

AFF has been what I expected. Friends and fellowship. :) Although I would say for a period of time there, when things were really rough for me, it was hard here too because I was changing so much. People didn't know who I was.

I was expecting it to be totally different than it actually was.
Expecting to find discussion on scripture. Imagine my surprise to find a bunch of crazy people (not naming names), and I fit right in!! :happydance

So true. :highfive It seems many come here with a set of beliefs, and then as you are challenged by other opinions and thoughts, it helps to form and solidify what you really believe in.

In a world mostly filled with people that have no earthly idea about the Oneness doctrine, I find comfort in discussing subjects with folks who have a similar Oneness background as me. We share a unique world and religious view.

I found many people who will send up prayers for total strangers. Lifting prayers for things they have no idea about .... just praying!! Thank you to all of those who have ever called out prayers for me and my family......even though we have never met and probably never will in this life...you are truly the meaning of having real friends in time of need~

Yep! this is what I always say! Altho I sincerely love and appreciate the fellowship of all my friends at my local church, they honestly have no idea what it is like to say, "I am Apostolic at my core" because they didn't grow up in Oneness. I come here for the friendship and fellowship with people who truly understand. At least that's PART of why I come here :)

:thumbsup I honestly believe with all my heart that some of the greatest Prayer Warriors this world has ever known are right here on AFF. What would I have done without all of you more than one time in the past 8 or 9 years! (Can you believe it has been that long for some of us!)

Thank you, Hoovie!

And yes, Cindy, I DO pray for you - and for many, many others here :)

You know, it's funny - when I first came to this world, long before we were AFF, I had heard about it, but wasn't sure if I would "fit in" or even want to stay. I've found tho that I have made some very special friends here. If you want to get rid of me, I guess you'll just have to shut down the forum altogether! We've moved from FRIENDS to FAMILY :) We're all a part of the family of God.

Clean, thoughtful, respectful, Biblically-based discussion of topics. I have not found that here, save 2-3 posters.

I expected to find new friends.... and I have, plenty of them.

I came looking for fellowship... for inspiration... for encouragement. And, I found more than I ever expected.

I expected to be challenged in my thinking, to be shown my error, and to learn more about the Word of God. And, I'm thankful to say AFF has met my expectations... and then some.

I expected to find diverse veiws... things I don't necessarily agree with.... and I appreciate this as it has strengthen my own veiws, and has helped me to learn to disagree without being a jerk about it.

I expected AFF to be exactly like, well, like a box of chocolates. You never know what ya gonna get.

Man, that would make a great line in a movie.

I found this forum a couple of months ago when the person who was currently using the username RandyWayne, allowed me to start using it in his stead, just like the user before him, and the user before her.

You see it is the name that strikes fear. No one would take me seriously if I went by "Weslie".

I was thinking about this response and decided that it is just not true. I've found that if you can expect anything from people here it is honesty. So if they claim to be Apostolic, they probably ARE Apostolic. Maybe not by YOUR definition - but Apostolic none-the-less. And if they are NOT Apostolic, they don't hesitate to tell you that that is the case as well.
